    Hallo.
I want to make a mod for BeamNG. It will be a truck from Fallout 4. J have an original model of this truck. So, I have questions.
1- what is the best program for modding?
2-how many polygons I need for truck. (I want it will look like original car)?
3- how to made characteristics for it?
P.S. English- is not my mother tongue, so there can be mistakes.
There is a foto of truck.

    Hey,

first of all welcome to our forum and nice to see that you're ready to start modding immediately.

Actually it might be a problem using the Fallout 4 model or using it at least as a reference due to possible copyright problems. For now we cannot approve mods with copyrighted content in it.

1.: You may need several programs to accomplish a whole new car mod. You'll need 3D application for creating the mesh, an editor to create and modify jbeam files, a image editing tool which can export dds files to create texture etc.. You'll need a bunch of tools and there are tons of tools out there for every section of centen creation. The good news - there are also free tools you can use.

2.: The T-series for example has around 70K polygons. In the end it's up to you and the level of detail you would like to achieve. But you need to consider that the more polygons you're going to use for your mod the less performant it will be.

3.: Not absolutely sure what you mean. But if you mean to give your mesh more details for example, to make it more characteristic, the common way is to use normal maps.

Hopefully I was able to help you a bit at least.

    Kind regards,
    Ludger

PS: next time use the 'Uplaod a File' button to provide pictures otherwise it will not work.

I want to import truck mod from Spintires, so I have textures. But I don't know, which programm will open Spintires' files. (Corvega COE, if I don't mistaked)

Hi meywue It would be nice if you could get Gabester or some one else who knows what there doing to making a part like a spoiler for a beamng car from start to finish in free programs like blender. When I say start to finish I me I what him or her to model the part in bender and then show us how to make the texteure in a free program like paint.net. And then show us how to make the jbeam in blender and then expert it. And show us how to put all it in to beamng. I think a video would help a lot of mods like me.
And can you tell me how to make thing float in the water in beamng

Hello, I benefit of this quote to ask you more informations about copyright. Fallout license has a free library for modding, also do you know what is the limit to use it without problems? Do you exclude in futur all creation import from other license? Have you some condition?

I ask that because I would like to use some static objects in my maps. Is it a problem for official mods? If yes I stop to use it, and go create my own...

for looks: take your time (don't release a car mod in 3 months it won't be good, a good mod takes like a year to make

Actually we couldn't approve them for now (still awaiting the final rights decision), what means that I recommend you to create your own asset. Sorry about that. I really don't know the conditions of Bethesda but I guess they have a clause which says that you're just allowed to use them in their products. But we definitely need to check this. Thanks for the hint!

Also I have seen advertisement about a fallout4 car in Forza, sure there are copyright behind... Thanks to you and please contact me if you have more information about that.
