Hi everybody, I googled, but wasn't able to find any information if BeamNG has plans to bring its great game to the Mac and/or Linux platform. I bought the game via Steam and now have to start Windows 10 on my iMac every time I want to play it. Best, Stephan
It's in the FAQ http://wiki.beamng.com/BeamNG_FAQ#Are_you_planning_to_include_Mac_support.3F Same applies to Linux. You should be able to run BeamNG through Wine, but only the older DirectX9 version. You also need very good specs that most iMac's will lack.
Mac, lolno, port is hard, 80% of Macs can't run the game anyway, and no sane person plays games on OSX. Linux, it was planned at some point, work was being done on an OpenGL port for T3D. Not anymore, because driver support on Linux is shit so it wouldn't run well anyway. Hopefully Vulkan will change that.
Linux graphics driver quality is improving dramatically thanks to Valve's support. With Vulcan arriving on the scene, the reasons for not including native Linux support are getting smaller every passing day.
I'd also love to see a linux port and like skyrover said linux dirvers are actually very good now. I play a lot of games on my linux system with no issues whatsoever.
I also use Linux as my primary OS and I can run almost every game for Linux perfectly fine. I would love to see this game running on Linux someday.
