Get yourself Firefox on a USB stick and run it from that. IE is just a pain in the ass, as is Edge. Okay, Edge is okay. Still not on the level of Chrome and Firefox by any means.
my school it technician is always very grumpy, seen people boot off linux on their usb flash drive, not allowed near a computer for the rest of the school year, the new school system has blocked all exe files now, it just wipes them off your usb stick , also means that you have to be careful to not have any valuable programs on it
My friends... let me tell you right now that my laptop is better than whatever PC his school has. HP G62 Notebook PC, Intel Pentium P6200, 4 GB RAM, and it can run certain maps like VR City at somewhere around 30 FPS. This thing's CPU fan goes ballistic whenever it does anything, and it feels like it'll burn a hole through the desk when doing anything that puts stress on the processor. I only have this thing to amuse myself at school instead of using the Chromebooks they gave us. I learned at some point that the Windows Update process used up 40-50% of the memory running in the background, so fixing that opened up a whole new range of possibilities. I've tried to put the same kinds of games like I have on my desktop, but only a few actually work. Beam wasn't meant to work on this stupid thing, but it does. My dual core laptop processor runs BeamNG... it sounds so unbelievably stupid but somehow time and space have allowed it to work.
How the f*ck didn't the people who thought that system out get killed by a lynchmob? Imagine you have tons of important .exe's on your USB.
well, it was fine, until people started bringing in counterstrike on their usb sticks and playing lan multiplayer, then they set up some sort of script and in our computing lessons we are told not to have any program files on the usb (for documents only) they use ranger (some sort of remote control thing) and symantec end point protection, dont know much more than that as the it technician is very grumpy, (completely hates happy wheels for no apparent reason, and blocks almost all games websites, and for some reason google, forcing us to use bing . )
How can you possibly block Google!?! What harm would come from google that you don't get with bing? My School literally runs off google, our mail is accessed through the gmail client, everyone uses drive because students get unlimited storage, people use google docs so you don't have to meet up every time you want to work on a group project, and most people I know use google calendar for scheduling. I couldn't imagine attempting to coordinate dropbox, office, outlook, etc to work together the way the Google platform does. You guys are missing out. Bing is better for porn searching, though
they switched it over, now they have rang up essex county council and now they have blocked it, permanently, because bing had a video preview feature (hover over icon)
I am literally the only person at my school that uses Google Docs for just about everything. Everyone that has the privilege of working with me is amazed at how we can all work at the same time, as well as on their own time.
Keep on spreading the word, they'll be appreciative of it later. I still like to use Office if I'm doing something alone, simply because I am more comfortable with it, but the beauty of Google docs is that you can convert office docs to Google docs and share them with the click of a button. It has come in handy so many times, especially if your group has vastly different schedules, you can still work on the same projects together. I work in the marketing deptartment for a small startup, and we use docs and drive almost exclusively. It's also great when you have a hard drive failure, all your documents are automatically backed up to the cloud. Just recently within the past month, I have switched all my document storage to google drive (and physical backup for very important things) and have been so much more productive, as I can access the same files on my laptop, on my phone, on any campus computer, or on my desktop when I'm back home.
At mine, the Steam Store is accessible, however, the Steam Community is considered "social media." Good luck logging in to buy something, you log into Steam through the Community.
really the amount of controls they put on the school computers is insane at my school you cant even access dropbox! i once tried to install beamng but i failed at it miserably. A; because thy are all pentinum 4 crap and B; all the controls. i also bought myself a laptop so i dont have to use those miserable bricks but the school evan ruined their wifi connection. --- Post updated --- i have a hp compaq 6910p which is better than all the school pcs
