Something like this for about $20 more is a much better option. It'll perform better in BeamNG.drive because the GPU is the bottleneck, and will do much better in other games.

What case do you have??? And you don't need a K-series chip for CAD. You would actually be better off with a Haswell-E or i7-6700 based system, although I'm not sure if your budget would allow it.

You don't need a K series CPU for CAD work. An i5-6400 is only ~15% slower than an overclocked 4690K (4.4GHz), won't make much of a difference. You're better off getting a more powerful GPU.

If for some reason you insist on getting a K CPU, at least get an R9 380. It's cheaper and better than the 960.

not when you overclock it to 1500mhz then the 380 is always behide even with a max overclock

4690K @4.4GHz is not much better (10-15%) than the entry level Skylake i5. Won't make a huge difference. Anything above 4.6GHz will need liquid cooling and a well binned CPU. You're better off with a more powerful GPU.

You're relying on getting a good chip. Not every 960 will do 1500MHz, most will stop @1400-1450. And even @1500MHz it's destroyed by the 380 in DX12.

9/10 can go to 1500 so those are some good chances. also i like CUDA cores. And GameWorks. And card stability, power consumption, heat, overclockability, and general awesomeness.

GameWorks is used by nobody because it is extremely proprietary, and the R9 380 is as stable as the GTX 960 and outperforms it in DX12. If you are all about power consumption and heat, go for an R7 370 or GTX 950. My 950 has never gone above 60C, without pulling more than 100W, and boosts (without overclocking) to 1500MHz. Would you buy a 970 over a 980 Ti because the 970 has less TDP? IDK about you, but I don't care that much about it.

I can bet my 1085 core / 1576 memory is faster than this GTX, what about stability? Any problem yet. What about heat? Well I've made pretty sweet air route, and it never exceeded 62*C. Only more power consumption is on GTX side.

What? GTX have way lower TDP than R9 380.

    OP I also suggest you to choose R9 390/GTX 970 instead of R9 380/GTX 960 and "K" series CPU

There is no real reason to buy the GTX 960 over the R9 380. Well, other than fanboy-ism or very proprietary work. Likewise with the 970 over the 390.

Don't get a 960 I have one and it's a bit of a let down, I hold it at 1420mhz and Max power, with a case fan blowing on it, it's quiet but not powerful, and quite frankly i need a 970 and I'm saving up for one.
My i5-4690k at 4.5ghz is severely limited by my GPU. Don't get a 960 get a 950 and save some money, similar performance. Or go for a 970

If you don't mind then AMD seem good, I haven't had an AMD graphics or CPU. But an Intel+AMD build seems fantastic. I go for Nvidia for the hardware encoder, (shadowplay)
