Could you please never do this again. People that do that are legitimately not right in the head. Would you like to be thought of like that?

Wait, there's an Italy map in the works?

You'd think they'd have done France or Germany first since there are now police cars for both. Still, this sounds like enticing news.

NVM, found it. I missed it because it was in its own thread instead of one I'd watched. I need to level up my Unofficial Wiki Curator skills, but my job is kind of distracting me.

Sorry it's taking so long. I've got relatives over and don't have much time to work on it. It's coming though :)

The tunnels being blocked also played a big part in the story, which I obviously have to completely rewrite now.

If Utah is too difficult to do or taking too long, then can you do the other maps such as the Hirochi Raceway, Small Island USA or Dry Rock Island? Or go on the Wiki and look for a map you might find easy.

Maybe that was a little harsh of me, but no, I don't currently plan on doing any of the other maps. They also won't be any easier for the main reason I'm having difficulties with Utah: I don't have any play time. JRI and ECA are by far the maps I play the most and I had already worked out much of the story before I started writing. Utah is brand new and I never play on the others.

Anyway, since Utah is taking so much longer than the others, I figured I would give a quick update. I'm encountering two problems in addition to the one mentioned above: It's too much of a real place (on I-70 between Richfield and Moab) for me to come up with much of an original story, and there's not really a whole lot there to write about anyway. I'm kind of losing motivation to be honest. For JRI, I was in my element because I had a pre-existing interest in that part of the world, but here I've not got a lot to work with. Don't take this as me quitting, though! I plan to keep going until it's as good as the other two even if it takes me a year ;)

Here's what we know about Utah:
    • One of the highway signs tells us that the area is called West Rock Canyon. It's unclear whether this is the whole area or just the canyon with the collapsed bridge. I plan on using West Rock Canyon as the name for the whole map either way.
    • The visitors centre and mechanics shop look to be well-kept, so I don't consider the area to be abandoned. I was going to say the area was blocked off and abandoned after the highway tunnels collapsed in the early 2000's but that doesn't work now that we know the rocks were a placeholder.
    • One look at Google maps tells you that the highway is obviously Interstate 70. There's no such thing as a place that's 54 miles from Moab and 68 miles from Richfield, but that doesn't matter. It's not like it's a real place anyway.
    • The other two buildings/structures on the map are clearly abandoned. One appears to be a mine, possibly from around the turn of the 20th century, and the other is a concrete structure that completely baffles me. I have no idea what kind of building it is, what it was supposed to be used for, and looks like it was abandoned during construction. This is the building that interests me the most. I somehow manages to say a lot about itself and nothing at the same time, if you know what I mean. It clearly has a fascinating story behind it yet does nothing to give away what it might be. It's not a blank slate, but it doesn't have anything specific written on it. Anyway, you get the idea. I've got a pretty good idea what I'm going to write about it, but I obviously won't give it away.
So there's the basic information I've got to work with. Hope you enjoyed this quick little update, hopefully I'll be back with the finished product!

You could feign that the modern Interstate 70 either replaced an older stretch or bypassed a former dual carriageway, a little like this thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandoned_Pennsylvania_Turnpike

Perhaps not abandoned though, but just rendered obscure by way of there being a more efficient route.
