This video infuriates me. Full length The kid was dead when the EMTs arrived on scene. They had to revive him. Cop killed the kid because he challenged his authority. He was acting kind of cunty, but that's no response to someone being difficult. In the full length version, the kid's dad, who is also a cop, shows up on scene around 24:50 and starts chewing out the first cop. Interesting to listen to. Officer Runnels has been sentenced to 4 years in federal prison.
Actually, Runnels didn't kill the kid, he just tasered him unconscious, causing irreversible brain damage. Runnels held that taser on the kid for 23 seconds. Here's why Runnels deprived the kid of his civil rights: The kid's Pontiac Grand Am was pulled over because he had a warrant affixed to his license plate. Runnels claimed "he could smell marijuana" in the kid's Pontiac. Runnels ordered the kid out of the car without a valid reason to do so. Corrupt police officers, gotta love 'Murica.
His heart was stopped and he wasnt breathing for 8 minutes. He was dead, but was revived by the paramedics. The cop killed him, but only for a short time.
According to another news article, the kid's license plate warrant was out of Kansas City, which was a mistake on the IPD as far as I know. Also, from the video I don't think Runnels even asked the kid if there was marijuana in the vehicle. But still, I don't condone cops tasering kids to death for challenging their authority.
The kid was being difficult, but he was within his rights. A cop is obligated to tell you why you are under arrest. The initial taser deployment was justified, but not for more than a few seconds; he began to comply quickly. The cop holding it for an additional 20 seconds just to make him suffer was fucking ridiculous. The drop on the face really finished it off too. Also a police officer can't validate taking someone's constitutional rights during a traffic stop. That's not how it works.
Cops do tons of illegal shit and never get charged for it. This is refreshing to see, but it probably only made its way to court because the kid's dad is a cop.
It's June. Summer hasn't even started. Autumn is 3 months away, and lasts for 3 months. So we get to wait 3-6 months for it. I don't consider that to be "almost."
Things are not going great for me currently. I need to seek some counceling, current events will haunt me forever. I may or may not be disappearing for a while, I haven't decided yet.
