Judging by your computer's specifications, you might be able to run BeamNG smoothly if on Lowest and/or Low graphics settings. On Normal and higher graphics settings, you might lag as hell. Also, be aware that all BeamNG vehicles run on a core system. 2-3 vehicles will take up 2-3 GPU cores of processing for all the nodes and beams. Core-intensive vehicles like the T-Series, Belaz, Blue Bird American School Bus, B-25 Mitchell, and other large vehicles might lag your game out.
I have similar PC specs in most regards, and I am able to run Beamng smoothly 30-50 Fps, on low-medium settings. Only on maps like gridmap, Hirochi raceway, and some community maps like crimson valley and Trynelgren though. Some maps like Utah and East coast USA may be unplayable .
At what settings do you think my pc runs good at? AMD FX 6300 GT 740 16 GB Ram (i play medium at about 20 on a good day)
I know my current laptop wont run it (Intel graphics), but I'm not sure about my new one: i5 6300hq (4 core, up to 3.2ghz), gtx 950m, 8gb ram.
If that was a question. Your setup is quite good for a laptop, but really don't expect too much of it. It will run no problems, just don't up your settings or have more than 2 cars
My i5 3570K/HD 7950/8GB RAM rig runs BeamNG fairly well, i can get two or three vehicles at the same time, even on East Coast USA and other highly detailed maps. However if I start playing around with vehicle customisation I often clear all but the current vehicle as the vehicle editor is fairly laggy as it is. The thread OP should be alright with one or two vehicles, and the graphics will probably be fairly equivalent to mine however the CPU is the main weak point as is the 4GB of RAM. If performance is an important factor for you I would recommend an upgrade to at least an i5 and at least 8GB of RAM.
My son desperately wants to play this game and has asked for a gaming computer for Christmas. I'm looking at maybe the following: S136 Intel Core i5, 6th gen 6402P (2.80GHz) 4 GB DDR4 1TB HDD AMD Radeon R7 240 Would that play it smoothly? Please help.
I will raise my hand and say, I'm a total idiot and have no idea what the GPU is. Can you tell me what I need to look for? Please.
Put simply, GPU stands for Graphics Processing Unit which renders what you see on the screen. It's almost impossible to assist without knowing what your budget is.
Well, from personal experience, just about the lowest system you will get this game to run on is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz with at least 4Gb of ram and an NVidia 320M for the GPU... HOWEVER, that being said, the 320M only handles DirectX 9.0 which means all future updates are not playable as the game currently runs on DirectX 11... which my computer does not do... Also, the two grid maps in the game are the only two maps I can play as the 320M is such a bottleneck... so until I get a new rig, I am stuck on the DirectX 9.0 version. Kinda sucks, but the game is still fun as hell, so I endure it.
