these "Russian" sites take and upload mods why cant they download them here? there are better quality mods here there is also a lower chance you can get viruses. I just don't get it?
There is a problem there, this site, being a more formal and serious site is not really marketed quite like the "russian" sites are. When you go to one of the "russian" sites, you see a bunch of big, HD, colored pictures of mods and big download buttons everywhere. The "russian" sites, especially world of mods, are very organized and seem have a lot more mods than this site. Even though none of those mods are actually original. The "russian sites jump out more at people, especially young children, and if you don't know any better, they seem pretty good. Until you realize they are all either stolen, or like this:
It's because the inferior sites have things like that Lamborghini and other rather terrible mods that people can't get here (for good reason), and they think "Oh wonderful! All these supercars are available here!". Then they see good quality stollen mods on the site, and they think "Oh, this is where all the mods come from. I'm not going to bother going to the forums." and they don't return; well, until one of the mods gives them a virus and they come crying all the way back to here. I personally think that the devs should put a link somewhere, whether in the mods panel, or the changelog, that directs players straight to the repo, and make sure that it is labeled at the official mod repository. That will help prevent new players from going to inferior sites for mods, and redirect others to the repo (which is still pretty new, and much better than the system we had).
there is one. its that plus button. its at the bottom of the main selector, the level selector and the vehicle selector.
Rather new to BeamNG. I have to admit that I used to browse WoM quite often. I can't blame people ending up there, it's the very first search result for "BeamNG vehicles" on Google, the website seems packed with interesting stuff... until you realize most of these mods are either obsolete or crap.
Well, it is, at least for me. That's how I got there the first time, a simple search. The abysmal quality of their file repository also led me to the official forums in the long run, so I don't regret it one bit...
I think the search results vary depending on what country you're in, where I'm from the majority of the results are from unofficial "russian" sites.
People who are at a Russian sites have no talent in making mods. They either steal the jbeam from stock vehicles in the game or re-upload mods to their site. This isn't legal, since they do not have permission to take the jbeam from other vehicles. They do not get arrested because nobody knows where they live in Russia. Other sites steal things from Russian sites that are stolen.
Can someone actually get a virus from Russian mods? I tried a few and there are no viruses, after i deleted them at least.
WorldOfMods won't get any viruses, mod are checked preventing viruses, the problem is the quality of the mods, they are models imported from other games with the jbeam structure of the most resembling stock car, stop calling the sites "Russian Sites" it may be offensive for someone, call them unofficial sites.
