Makes me wonder if it would be possible for someone with some computer knowledge to ghetto-rig a low-grade "super" computer from used high-end parts, and how many of those issues would be solvable, or less on such a homebuilt system.

I tried making a cluster a couple times. Never got it working properly :( . probably because of dated/mismatched hardware.

Looks like my concerns about the OnePlus 3 price increase due to inflation were legit. Just got this email...

Not sure if their plans are entirely evangelical or if they are treating it like a sale and trying to get as many people to buy as possible before the rise though :p

I can only imagine that's with physics paused as super computer single core performance is not any higher than desktops

I found out the hard way : Don't spawn a WiP vehicle with your wheel sitting in it's storage position. FFB wasn't configured yet and suddenly my wheel freaked out and fell 5ft. :(

    RIP wheel.

I keep mine on the floor and hope that it doesn't get tangled in cables during boot, which occasionally results in me wrestling against it trying to free it up.

I do the same, except I raise the clamps to max and lay it so the wheel is above the cables so I don't have to deal with it having a seizure when my PC boots.

On another note, tfw you finish a car and GIMP crashes and you realize you didn't save anything

When you buy a gun, in my case cannon, you clean them, care for them, paint them, derust them if you want them shiny, carry them and they sound off with glorious roaring in return. You then name them. I and my re-enactment group did that. We've all fallen in love with that gun.

Our gun is Ellie, her trunnions are cracked and if we used her again it's likely she'd fly off the carriage and kill someone. This is due to incredibly shoddy work from her manufacturer. The gun was not proofed properly, cast properly nor faced off properly. The crew is devastated to see the damage, as she was such a good girl and we’ll be getting our £3,000 back. And for nearly killing us everyone is aiming to kill the man's business. As it's not just our gun, but her sister gun too that suffered the same fate.

I’m a very unhappy reenactor, but Ellie’s last day was flawless right until she broke. I learned on that gun, this gun taught me how to load her so well I can do it singlehandedly faster than a full crew. I'm genuinely unhappy to see her irrepairibly broken. For Ellie, she's small but among the loudest of our society's battery.

No, I didn't buy that, I found one from our storage room about a year or two ago and just looked at the value.

Also found one set without the game for sale for 220€ in Finland.

Blocked files. It's really hard to access, there might be a guide somewhere.

Some previous owner of my house decided to embark on a project to modernize the cabling infrastructure and then gave up. There's partially setup Cat5e and 16-gauge spanning the width of the whole house and many walls (probably 300 or 400 feet of cabling), but only one jack exists. Incredibly frustrating, but finishing it is a problem for another day...

I used some of the ethernet in the walls to hook up a multipurpose server I built last week. Got Samba running smb shares on a 3tb drive, doing massive file transfers at gigabit speeds, backing up old IDE HDDs that aren't archived anywhere else, and doing remote administration from 300 miles away over a VPN with SSH/VNC. Bliss...

I used a cheap ass Antec HTPC case I found at a local store to house the whole thing. From what I can tell, the manufacturer didn't really design the case with, uh, computers in mind, but I managed to make it work using the tried and tested technique of pliers and latch vandalism. (The only casualty of the affair seems to be a broken SATA power cable.) It being a run-of-the-mill SFF case, I was a bit worried about temps -- the case came one of what must be the single shittiest fan ever produced -- but it seems to be maintaining a pretty steady 35 degrees (45 at peak), which doesn't quite worry me enough to implement additional cooling faculties.

Power draw is minimal enough that I'm able to let this thing hum overnight doing file transfers without worry. Very happy I finally got around to doing something like this.

Time Warner Cable (soon to be known as Spectrum) seems to have screwed up. We pay for 30Mb/s down and 5Mb/s up (lucky to get 20/0.1). Just ran speedtest after Steam was reporting strange speeds... THANK YOU TWC.

That really sucks, I imagine a cannon must be pretty expensive. Good thing no one got hurt.
Speaking of guns exploding, would you like some advice? Well, don't load your own 9mm ammunition while drunk. You may put too much powder into the shell and blow up your gun. I have fortunately not done this, but some people I know have, boy am I glad that they are not always so stupid. Don't drink kids, It almost never ends well.

I actually have enough room to keep my G27 on my desk at all times. I just unclamp and slide it over when I want to use it. Very convenient. :)
