AGH! I'm so stupid lol. HERE: (this is copy and pasted from my previous post because i thought i put it in a wrong section, sorry)

When im in the options menu i use the auto detect function for my graphics instead of just setting them myself and it always puts it to high, but whenever i play its always quite laggy :(. anyways, ive seem to notice that alot of the lag comes from the tons of grass in some maps. So im wondering, is there a way to just disable the grass?
I just got this today so im still very much a noob at this game, the level editor, etc

i got this just over a year ago. I can play games such as skyrim, battlefield 3, etc on high settings and those are pretty demanding... although maybe i should have looked at the requirements for this game before i bought it?
    Anyhow, here ya go: http://www.microcenter.com/product/388092/R500VM-MS71_156_Laptop_Computer_-_Mocha

BTW, the Nvidia card is 2GB

In the nvidia control panel force the game to use the dedicate graphics card. By default it will run on the intel one which will result in poor fps.

the game says its using the nvidia card but there is still lag :( not the kind of lag that is extremely low fps, but the kind of lag where it seems like everything is in slow motion. although the fps can be kinda low

WOW! thanks moosedicks! haha. that really helped alot, its still kiiiiiinda laggy but its playable. What does postfx do anyways?

And also, if i want to just choose a spot to spawn a car, is there anyway to just like, no-clip to a certain spot and then spawn the car there? im guessing that would have to be done in the level editor

Your laptop should be more than capable to run it at a decent fps. Try this, ingame hit J and see what happens to your fps? Does it go up? If so by how much?

Post-fx is to make the game look prettier and detonate low end video cards

How are you measuring the FPS? Because sometimes it says FPS but that is not the actual FPS. Press Ctrl + F to see the actual in-game FPS.

    - - - Updated - - -

    ok here

if that video doesnt work, copy and paste this link into youtube: /watch?v=vZzYITXZjSA&feature=youtu.be
BTW, i forgot to show the videocard the game is using in the options, but it's the Nvidia GT 630M

OH ALSO, the FPS is a few fames less that what they normally are since i was recording. like 2-5 frames less

Auto detect graphics sets everything to high for me, even though that's too slow for most maps. Better do the settings manually. Low mesh and lighting still look quite good, lowest lighting is much faster but it has no shadows, so it looks worse.

If you want to optimize the maps a bit, press F11 in game and find the terrain object in the scene tree. Set "screenError" higher (up to 100 maybe) for lower terrain detail levels in the distance. That can help if the graphics card has problems with high polycount on screen. Lower "visibleDistance" in the level info object can help too.

Grass can be hidden in the terrain editor, or you can lower the "maxElements" in grass objects to make the grass less dense. I think on most maps the forest has the biggest effect on frame rate, but there's not much you can do about that, other than hide the whole forest or erase parts of it manually in the forest editor mode.

All this would have little effect if the frame rate is limited by physics/CPU, but should help if disabling physics by pressing J doesn't increase fps. Also, edits to the terrains will be lost if you update them.

so if i go to the world editor and switch the lighting to Basic Lighting, i get about +30 FPS. and thats crazy. I play skyrim, gta, lfd2, etc which all have shadows that are better or equivalent to this game's shadows. I dont understand why its just the shadows in this game that cause the massive loss of FPS, but yet... in other games, shadows dont cause a massive FPS loss. any answers as to why? just curious
