So I was thinking about building a new computer soon, and I was wondering if my motherboard will adequately fit two Powercolor Red Devil RX 480s without any space/heat issues. I have an Asus Z170-A LGA1151 mobo. I would also like to know if i will need one of those Crossfire bridges for it, and if my 1000w psu will suffice.
The red devil is a bog standard reference RX480, so a piece of garbage you shouldnt touch. That stock cooler overheats like a motherfucker. Wait for aftermarket cooled variants (1 or 2 are starting to trickle out)
Yes your motherboard will work fine for up to 3 GPUs, the coolers on the cards should be able to alleviate most issues with heat but it will still run pretty hot compared to a single GPU. You wont need a Crossfire bridge as all AMD made in the last few years don't use them. 1000W is more than enough for these cards also.
What would be better about a Nitro or XFX? I'm still sort of in the process of trying to figure out which RX 480 is the fastest.
