Technically, it's "when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me", but this might be getting too off-topic. On-topic, the ETK 1500 looks great so far! Keep doing your work Bernd, and no I'm not going to ask to beta test your mod
[Bump] Any new stuff ? I love modern SUV, and this one look awesome ! Any plan for a full Off-road version, like the x5 Paris-Dakar ?
im sorry, im just trying to make the forums less full of useless spam. and i have been on the forums for a while.
Nothing to show off really, I'm currently fixing up the mesh, aiming for dev quality. And I'd like to have a version like that, @titleguy1 would have to be interested too, though, since he's doing the suspension . --- Post updated --- Before -> after (still not finished)
SUV means "Sports Utility Vehicle", something like an X5 or Cayenne is a true SUV, but what with the American/British English scenario and endless new market niches being created, the term is mostly misused (BTW I'm British English) Any rough release dates for this yet? (loving the progress so far!)
The BMW X5 is a textbook definition of a Crossover or CUV as it is not only car based in terms of design, it is a SUV based on a car, the BMW 5 series. The term SUV originated in the 90s in the US and applies to what we're previously considered wagons. When someone says something is a traditional SUV it means it has a ladder truck like frame. So vehicles like the Toyota Land Cruiser, and defender are traditional SUVS whole car like SUVS are considered CUVs like the X5, range rover sport and the XC90
The term originated in the US, and is used as you say in the US. In Europe, SUVs are what people in the US call CUVs, and Offroaders are what they have been calling SUVs for 20 years.
No, in Europe, an offroader is anything that is equipped to traverse harder terrain (proper 4x4 systems with locking differentials). SUVs and Crossovers usually only have AWD that has difficulties going over tougher terrain in general.
So what if the "off roader" has 4wd only as an option. Is it an SUV if it only has 2wd? Honestly the european system is outdated and has isn't based on any definitive characteristics. Saying something is an SUV if it has a body on frame layout or a Crossover if it is unibody makes more sense
You said people in the US call offroaders SUVs. SUVs are far more civilised and not very suited for serious off-roading, there's a difference.
Nope I'll quote myself: And then I was told that in the US, the term "SUV" has been used for more than 20 years to describe what we Europeans call "offroaders" as well ---> "traditional SUVs" Anyway, this is getting seriously off-topic. I think we've been hijacking this thread far too much...
