Cars being to able to lose more parts

    I honestly think that the rollover physics need to be a bit more exaggerated. Especially since most of the cars currently in BeamNG are based on late 90's to early 2000 models, when rollovers weren't tested by the IIHS.

    The only things that flew off that car that you won't see in BeamNG are people and windshields (which are not detaching parts for performance reasons)

    There is nothing for us to "exaggerate" in the physics. We build cars according to their real construction with some compromises in resolution/amount of detachable parts for a playable game.

    Seems like a lot of people seem to have a problem wrapping their heads around the idea of a physics engine....

    Maybe people just aren't crashing their cars in beam right :p

    I've had no trouble taking off bumpers, doors, fenders, and even whole wheels without even rolling over. lol
    I'd be willing to post a pic if I could figure out how to take a picture in-game. Print-screen just results in a black box.

    Okay if your only argument is "Dya see that in real life ? NO." So let me show you what I meant.

    This, is not even a bit of real. The door is not attached to the car, but it stay here, and the car goes crazy down the moutain, the door stay like this.
    And the other door is just, I don't know, trapped into the car, and it stay like this too x)

    However it's okay it's just a door, uh. Here are the pedals and stuff :

    Did this seems enough real for you ?

    Well, all this to say, don't you think, honestly, that some of those parts should go make a little flight around ? Okay, it might affect performance, but you won't fool me I work with game engines and I do a bit of prog, and 4 - 5 parts won't do anithing to the gameplay.

    Or maybe just make the pedals and stuff able to move, and not just stay like this. The car interior is deformable, so why not this ?

    Nope I haven't sure, but i've seen enough crashes, and had two, to know that a door, when it's open, if it hits the ground, a wall, or another car, it just goes off. Here, if you have the door open, and hit something, the entire car move, that's impossible.

    For the door issue if you hit K a few times you'll figure out precisely whats going on. The model that approximates the car's physical structure doesn't perfectly match the visual car model. There isn't alot that can be done. I tell you what, though. Go run a few of these simulations.

    "Doesn't prefectly match" exactly what i'm saying. But gabester is so sure his game is the best of the world without any problem ...

    However i'm done with this topic, it's okay it's seems enough realistic, sure, and nothing more will be done. No problem. Still playing.

    it can be made to match by increasing the resolution of the physics model, but then you'd be complaining about the performance hit. Welcome to a the concept of the fidelity Vs speed dichotomy in computer simulations.

    The steering wheel, pedals, and shifter are animated props, not physically there, and their position is tied to the floor (it has to be for the coordinates to work right). There is not much we can do about the fact that they remain in place (relative to the floor) without making computationally expensive and glitchy physically simulated pedals and steering.

    We are getting really tired of your hostile attitude, citathorn. Never have I claimed that our simulation is perfect. I address people's complaints and I try to explain things objectively. I know our physics engine quite well, its limitations, and where things need work (I spent the last 2 years of my life on it, as well as 4 years before that on Rigs of Rods). Complaining that something fundamental about our engine is wrong (like gravity or inertia) is simply factually incorrect. We could not make those things wrong even if we wanted to.

    If you push any physics engine to its limit (like crushing a car to a pancake at 200 mph) there are going to be glitches. If you can find me a physics engine that allows this level of dynamic damage with zero glitchy parts, be my guest.

    Easy to talk to someone you banned because he don't agree with you, and can't see what you say.

    Not hostile, just saying that I've seen you, being hostile with some guys around the forum because they said something "bad" about the game, and you treat them like s**** as you do with me. I say what I'm thinking, I think what I'm saying. You (and I, I admit it) should calm down when you speak to people. That's why what I wrote seem hostile.

    Anyway the fact you banned me just for that says it all.

    Unban me, I'll stop messing with you, that was not to be mean, really.
    I've paid for an "exclusive access to a section of the forum where you can talk directly to the devs and report bugs, suggest features, etc." and this is empty : http://wiki.beamng.com/TOS.
    So how should this ban be "legal" ? I never insulted you or whatever, please be serious I admit i've pushed it maybe too far, but not for 1 month ban. I do apologize but i'll go on litigation with paypal if d'ont get unbanned. I want what I paid for.

    It's a 3 day ban, and I think most people would agree your hostility towards me was unwarranted. Maybe it's a language barrier thing, but I do not act the way you accuse me of acting. If you want a refund, I would happily refund your purchase and remove your forum privileges. We reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason. This is a privately owned forum.

    Anyways, there was nothing objectionable about the post I made which you basically blew up in response to. I answered the questions as best as I could and you basically resorted to insults. That is a toxic attitude and not respectful forum conduct. Take a 3 day break.
