How about the choice to engage and disengage the 4wd system whilst driving like this: High 2, High 4, N and Low 4. And further more locking differentials, front locking hubs.

 

I'm thinking a mini truck needs to be added to the game. I think the truck should somewhat resemble a mid '90's Chevrolet S-10 extended cab short bed pickup. Different variations can be made as well. I like the look of the "monster" a truck from GTA SA. It's clearly based on a S-10 as well. But this is the design I like the best. For engines the base model trucks could be fitted with a 2.5L 4 cylinder with either a 4speed automatic or a 5speed manual transmission. For the more decked out model a 3.7L V6 paired with either a 4speed auto or 5speed manual. Maybe a luxury 4x4 model could come with 4.5L V8 with a 4 or 5 speed automatic. Both 2wd and 4wd models. Different configurations such as reg. cab short bed, reg. cab long bed, ext. cab short bed, ext. cab long bed. The luxury 4x4 model should be a crew cab with a really small bed and fender flares, etc.
