So I recently downloaded the tech demo (.0.3.0) and after a vehicle restart I noticed this odd bug where it seems as if the normal skid mark material had somehow been replaced with that of a large dirt mark(or something). The material change also causes a severe frame drop.

I have only been playing for ~10 minutes or so when this showed up. I have been playing with an Xbox 360 controller so I don't think it could have been a keystroke I accidentally tapped in.

That might fix the symptom but what if it happens again? I'm looking for a permanent solution, not a temporary fix.

It is a tech demo, the devs said they aren't gonna fix anything. Anyway it is just a TECHDEMO.

That's a lame solution, anyone know why it's happening?

I would imagine that it would be in their best interest to fix any problems, otherwise the game might be great but if I base my judgement off the tech demo then I will think its a buggy piece of doodoo

So? Don't assume that just because it's a tech demo means that it is unimportant, they probably spent a lot of time working up to and making the tech demo which I think is a big advertising point, because nowhere else(that I know of) can I play with soft body physics cars. Something like this glitch, were it to happen again(which I was assured it would), could really be off putting to potential buyers.

It's a bug that got patched in the full version. Yes, it's offputting to potential buyers. No, there aren't any plans to patch the tech demo. My guess is if it gets patched at all, it will get "upgraded" when a BIG patch comes out. If you are familiar with Kerbal Space Program, Squad (the devs) kept the demo at version 0.13.3 for quite some time. Even though many bugs got fixed from then on, the demo never got patched. They've only upgraded it once, and that was when they refactored the whole game in 0.18.
As far as I'm concerned, it's supposed to be a technology demo. An error that is quite clearly an issue with the rendering engine and does not interfere with the demonstration of the soft-body physics technology, and is not related to the technology, is most likely not important enough to issue a patch to correct, especially when the demo does not have an updater to detect and roll out said patch. If there was a bug that was causing the physics technology being demonstrated to implode and crash to desktop on a regular basis, that might be something worth patching in the demo.

This bug is fixed in the full game. The tech demo likely won't be updated very often as that requires quite a bit of work to make multiple executables with different operating conditions and allowances.
