I've only been here since early 2015 and even I've noticed a change... can't quite put my finger on it, but it's as if the forums have grown colder.
its just what happens when a community grows, imagine a small village with 30 people living in it... everyone knows each other, its all good and cheerful.... now imagine it grows to 500.... theres gonna be a larger variety of people in that number, and that variety also includes highly dislike able people...
I couldnt agree more, politeness is very often left out. Its like any facebook post about anything nowadays, ppl are allowed to act out way to much. Behind a keyboard they become evil geniuses without knowledge so to speak. May we need a clarification/alteration/addition to the rules of this forum? Maybe more moderators keeping things polite?
The Problem is that the game became more popular, so more people (all kind of people, even children and childish people for example) come here in the forum. (NOTE: I'm around the forum since 2014 but never made an account before this year)
Happens as communities grow and mature (ironically) Keep it real though people. The devs and community are the most important assets an indie game can have. Cherish it and be nice.
I have started to see more rubbish posts and more hostility, hopefully this forum doesn't end up torn to pieces like the Rigs of Rods forum was. (Yes I am aware the RoR forums are getting better, but it wasn't great last time I visited.)
Well, you don't need to go that far. At the moment i joined this community, it was great and friendly then all sudden, we have trollers, spammers, immature kids, offensive posters and people who don't know how to read rules...
I agree with your statements regarding immaturity and petty bickering. Does that place actually still exist? I thought the whole RoR community was gone?, a shame since it was a great game back in the day.
This happens to every online community that grows... I am part of a Google Hangouts group chat for people interested in elevators, I was the 6th to join it. Now it has 80 people and the community has gone from talking about elevators and funny random stuff to people spamming "Subscribe to me", people creating separate group chats just for people they like and a general hostility towards others. This is just my opinion, but a lot of the time age seems to have a large impact on a community, as generally little kids don't know what they say/do can have a knock on effect (take ROBLOX for example)
Yep, it's still there. Its rigsofrods.org now because they are reworking the whole site. And on a plus note about this... I haven't seen one person ask for "LITE BARZ PLS" yet... so there is always that.
I joined november 2013 .. I loved this community somewhat too. It was a nice place .. Since mid 2015 it´s not even fun anymore beeing here.. You only have people asking for the next update or about that Multiplayer thing. I try to stay nice and so on, but honestly I just think how stupid some of these people are tbh.. Idk anymore
This is probably what would happen to every online community... The more popular it gets, the more people join it and the more the quality drops...
A lot of the new people come from videos of the game from people like PewDiePie, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, and romanatwood, not knowing the rules and regulations of the forum, causing more shitposting and spam.
