All our one ton and smaller work trucks are owned by the state or Illinois, and usually at the first sign of a hiccup they are loaded up and taken down to the state garage, we're not supposed to do much more than change the battery.

And It's not like we have only Fords, it's about 50% Dodge, 40% Ford, and 10% GM, however the large majority of the trucks we have problems with are the 97-up Fords.

Between all the Dodge trucks we've got, the only issues we've had were a weeping water pump, and a bad wheel bearing. And those were on the same truck. And all the Dodge trucks we've got are from 98-01, Mostly all 318's, three 360's, and one V6.

The pair of 2003 3/4 ton 4x4 GMC's we've got have both have had a few issues, mainly to do with the front end, loose steering, ball joints, one of them only goes into 4wd when it feels like it, and the other one had a leaky heater core.

However, we do have two late model Fords, both with the 6.2, a 2013 4x4 F150, and a 2015 4x4 F350, I like both of those trucks quite alot, tons of power, and they sound great. I assume the 6.2 is the continued development of the 4.6/5.4. As far as reliability goes, I can't really say, the half ton has 21,000 miles, and the one ton only has 7,600.

The Ricer Boy Chronicles, Part Whatever:

Found out today that Ricer Boy didn't actually get his turbo put in. I now suspect he's making the whole thing up to psyche me out. Found out last night, from some friends of his that came in to chat, that his 3rd gear wet the bed.

Also, he has a friend in a Lancer Evo who wants to race me now. Granted, it's a stock automatic from 2003, but still, that's pretty much a guaranteed loss. He thinks I'll smoke Evo Guy because I have a manual instead of an automatic, but let's see here... the Evo has Dat AWD Traction, it has about twice as much horsepower as I do, it doesn't weigh too much at all... yeah, I think we already know how that's going to go.

I absolutely love the BX. Almost bought one myself.
In the late 90s my uncle had a BX Break, that was a sick ride when I was young. He always let us play with the hydraulic suspension.

From my experiences the 4.6 has been great. My grand marquis had well over 200k miles when i sold it, and the only problems were the window motors and ball joints. My vic just hit 200k when i sold it. It would still run its ass off and even keep up with a kid i went to school with's s2000.

It seems most of the bad things I hear about the modular 2v v8s from ford revolve around the 5.4 and the v10.

There may be some truth to that, as the majority of the problems I see are with the 5.4's and V10's.

If I weighed 300 fewer pounds I'd offer to destroy that automatic Evo for you. As long as it's dry. What do you think he loses in that drivetrain? 25 percent?

Did they even make automatic Lancer Evos that old? I've never seen one. Is it just a normal Lancer?

Back then I could get a better deal on a Peugeot 205 1.6, which also had slightly better build quality. The Citroën is a more special car, but I really love my 205 :)

Yeah the 205 is a solid little car. What kind of fuel consumption can you expect from the 1.6? (I'm guessing thats the XU5 engine?)

It consumes about 1 litre Euro95 per 12,5 KM. Do keep in mind it's an Autotragic :p
Should the automatic gearbox fail in the future, then I can just build a manual one in. Should make the car a bit faster and more economical in terms of fuel consumption. :)

8L/100km on an auto gearbox, presumably a 4 speed. Not bad at all, considering it's an early 90s slushbox auto.
With a manual I would estimate around 7l/100km, and maybe 6 with some careful driving ;p

Yep! A four speed ZF 4HP14. It's actually a German transmission used in a French car. Not the combination one would expect :p
    What car do you have?

    Interesting, didn't know that.
Sadly enough I don't have a car (no money to buy it + insurance + fuel costs at the moment, and I will be getting my drivers license sometime early next year) but I might get a 205 when the time comes. We'll see ;p

Thats fascinating, from my math that works out to around 29 MPG, which by my standards is quite good, though I assumed that a 1.6 anything would get atleast 40. I can get 25 from my one ton dually Cummins Dodge truck, so 29 from a tiny hatchback with a 1.6 four banger seems exceptionally low.

I can squeeze 30mpg out of my civic but just barley. The way I like to drive I average 24 or 25 mpg. Turning 4k at 70 mph in 5th doesn't help that much either. When this clutch goes I'm doing a 7.5 pound flywheel and a gsr fifth for cruising.
