I play minecraft too. its not a bad game. you can build what you want, when you want. and just that freedom keeps me playing from time to time.
Minecraft is a fun game to play with friends, especially those at your maturity level; Minecraft gets a bad rap because its popular with kids, causing conflict between people at different maturity levels. Amusingly that is what much of this thread has become, and is indicative of the issues in the community brought up, as many issues revolve around users not being mature in some instances and others looking down on said people. Its a complex problem and not easy to solve, though possibly allowing the community to be "broken up" better than a "general" forum could help; subcategories on a more diverse (and easy to access) level would help, as It is natural to people to seek those they share interests with; Currently outside of groups, there is no easy way on the forums to split up specific topics (racing, crashing, timetrials, etc.) and they all get lumped into general discussion. To draw a comparison look at a site like reddit, there is a plethora of different communities that can be freely accessed for many different interests. Here we are mostly relegated to general discussion, plus due to the way the sorting system works threads can get bumped and become clutter, even threads that have a following can get bogged down under said clutter. if the forum is to survive we need communities of like minded people, as lumping everyone together often involves conflict.
I used to play Minecraft all the time, and I ran multiple big servers. Unfortunately I got sick of it and felt a bit burnt out because of some of the toxic community, I really hope this forum doesn't end up like that because I'm starting to see some parallels
In this exact thread could be seen one of the cons of this community, the thread was about community members and it ended up talking about Minecraft.... let's start from the smallest things to make this forum better
I guess it's just side-effects of the exposure the game has received in that time. That brought a lot more users onto the forum, and eventually, people just got annoyed at that and ended up with the attitude they're at now.
The human condition. I can't wait until we evolve out of the whole social media era and get back to punching each others lights out over a good game of UNO.
ITT: underageb&, normalfags and other cancer discussing how to make the forum less "cancer" Make the forum a better place, start by yourself.
I sometimes play mc too, just the majority of creative servers become dating sites, even though everyone knows that most servers are overpopulated with 9 year old kids.
It is also saddening that some suggestion threads, bug report threads, even mod progess threads end turning into a flame war because newbs do not get that something will never happen like putting lisenced vehicles in te game stock or if BeamNG will come onto console. The inevitability of newbs who have no forum experience at all is certainly a reason for why the community is falling.
This is sad The thread was about not insulting other people and being nice, and now stuff like this happens And now its just people talking about minecraft.
An example of most noobs with little to no forum knowledge: ERMAGHERD, I WEHNT BUGGETEH BAERON IN BEHMENGEH1!1!1!1!!11!!, If you piss them off: I FEK UR MEM EVREH DUY U KUNT, I AHM VUREH HOWLEH!1!1!1!1!
I've been here for awhile now and I have noticed a change, and the community doesn't seem as friendly as it once was. However, Many Internet forums are a lot worse than this and I look at the bright side that this isn't as bad as them.
I agree fully with you this forum has gone down hill some what, I didnt post for almost a year on the forum because of it...it was that bad....
I´ve been in this forum since 2014 (Aproximately) With the old forum, and I must say that everything Dummiesman said is correct; There is a large amount of unresponsible and unrespectful people who just insult each other or talk about no-sense things. You could say "Oh, but you´re a child, you´re 14 years old, you´re a part of that invasion..." And I am, but at least I try to contribute, help people if I can, and especially being respectful with other people, cause that´s the base of our community or any other... Isn´t it? In this situation, I think that devs should be a little more strict, just to control things in here and avoiding fights or spamming. Cheers
