As said in the title, my computer spontaneously turns off while I'm playing BeamNG.drive. My computer is an Acer Aspire 5742G. My computer runs BeamNG.drive fine until it turns off.
    System specs:
Quad core Intel Core i3-370M processor
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA Ge ForcecGT 420M with 1GB video memory
    500 GB HDD.

    Re: Computer spontaneously turns off

Sounds to me like an overheating issue.
Computers (laptops especially) get very hot, and as a precaution, shut themselves down.
What temp was your cpu/gpu at? :>

I have the same laptop (more or less), it does this when it over heats. I bought a cooling tray for it. It stops the overheating and improves performance noticeably.

Clean your heatsink and fan. Dust clogs the heatsink fins unbelievably quickly, and the poor airflow causes the CPU to throttle to avoid overheating, which is what yours doesn't seem to be doing properly. Aside from the performance boost and thermal shutdown mitigation, the life of the CPU will be extended since the substrate degrades quickly every second it's at a very high temperature.

he also might want to replace the thermal paste if it keeps over heating with a clean heatsink and fan. Manufacturers don't always use good thermal compound and sometimes it's applied badly

No, my laptop isn't overheating. And anyway I fixed it(turned off SSAO).

It sounds to me like it was overheating, but by turning off the SSAO you put less strain on it, so it no longer overheats.

Spoke to soon, my laptop crashed shortly before posting this. Looks like i'll have to get a cooling tray and other stuff.
