You can pull 1 arcsec (~30m resolution at that latitude) satellite height map data from: http://gdex.cr.usgs.gov/gdex/

Also, much easier to use, somebody made this to get terrains for Cities Skylines http://terrain.party/ which works really well usually.

Unless you have a drone and get permission to map the area with photogrammetry not much better you can do because high-res height map data is usually not public.

Also, be prepared to do a lot of manual tweaking in image editors and in the F11 terrain editor because heightmaps will sometimes include the tops of trees, bridges and have noisy, irregular features that need corrected manually.

I made a quick and easy tutorial if you choose to use terrain.party:

I know terrain.party but if the Max Resolution in Germany is ~30m then its sensless.
I need around 3-5m but i think the next 100 Years its not possible :D

Thanks for your Answers and the Informations :)

Sometimes municipalities will publicly release elevation data. Not everywhere and not always for free, but as a for-instance, New York has a one foot DEM.

I try it like you in the Video but i get an error on Import Heightmap. The Heightmap is in my "Documents/BeamNG.drive" folder.

    Edit:
Found it! The Heigtmap.png needs to save in the "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\levels\myMap\import" folder.

No it doesn't. I import heightmaps from the "Documents/BeamNG.drive" folder without a problem. Putting things in the Steam folder is undesirable, not recommended, and a pain in the butt...

I have tried all possible folders but the only where it works by me is the import folder from the Map.

I also have tryed so many ways but still get and error message. Weird because it used to work fine for me. I will ask the devs I think.

I have found out how to do it successfully.

The heightmap must be in the main game directory under beamngdrive/content/levels put it amongst the zip files and import it in from there and it should work.

Thanks so much for sharing this! :)
