First bike. 1988 cbr 1000f hurricane.
Heavy bike for a beginner weighing in at 600 pounds wet, but once it's rolling it's not bad especially for a steel framed bike.

I'm trying to get a scooter, and I have found the model I like, but I have a dilemma.
I am trying to get a Honda Elite 125/150 but I can never find any for sale in my area, especially with such a tight budget.
Now I have finally found one I can afford, but it is an 80 model. The only important difference to me is the styling. I happen to highly prefer the 125/150 over the 80.

    Then an idea struck me,
If the frame is the same across all of the bikes,
Then I can strip the body of the panels and replace them with 125/150's.

I just can't find out if the frame is the same. I'm still going to look, but I cant figure it out.
So if anyone knows if this is true or not I'd really like to know, as I would really like to have a cool scooter that's also a fun project.
If you could point me in the right way that would also be appreciated.

    Thanks.

This probably isn't going to work but whatever.

Thanks, but I actually already checked these websites... still thanks for trying to help. I decided I was going to buy it anyway, but I am definitely looking into a conversion. I know most likely I should atleast be able to convert the handle.

    Incase you were wondering... pics:

Working on a price right now.

Beast... although it doesn't actually look to ratty at all. if I remember when I get home I will upload some pics of my bike... that thing is like a Rat Rod Motorcycle... if such a thing even exists.

I've got to admit that it looks fairly good on that picture. But the frame has got a crack at the other side and it's got some rust which you can't see on this crappy picture. But when it's parked at school, it really looks ratty between all those new (chinese) plastic scooters.

I hope you can surpass the rattyness of the Puch.

Oh, just you wait... the original owner of my bike just about destroyed it with his "maintenance." Its pretty rough... I like it... but I can understand why some would not.

Well dang, sorry to hear that... don't worry though... where there is one, there will be others.

As for mine, this is it. 1982 Yamaha Seca XJ 650R

Like the chopped seat? The owner thought the seat was to long so he took off the leather, chopped the foam, reinstalled the leather, and the proceeded to fold the leather under the seat and staple it in about 1000 different places. Also, the bike is covered in painted rust... seriously... the whole thing was rust, so then he painted the WHOLE thing with a rattle can! Just sat it there and sprayed it top to bottom... chrome... glass... lights... engine... carbs... wheels... See those chicken strips on the rear tire? Yea... I just thought he wasn't very brave (that pic is from before I had ever ridden it as it wasn't road legal)... found out the first time I went to take a corner that it was BLACK PAINT ON THE TIRE... WHO DOES THAT?!?

It has the rear tail light off of a 1932 Chevy... something... and I honestly have no idea what the rear fender is off of... better then the one that came off of it though... I kid you not, it was a frosted flakes cereal box and bondo spray painted black... I kid you not. Also, the tail light was a trailer tail light lens tapped to the rear cereal box with one of those flexible LED strips from walmart crumpled up into a ball under the lens for a light... *face palm*
    IMG_0229.png IMG_0228.png
Also, as you may be able to see here, the exhaust was hacksawed off and the guts ripped out of it, so now its nothing more then a giant trumpet... my neighbors love me.

This is what the wiring looked like when I first got it...
    IMG_0227.png

When I first installed the original turn signals as the LED ones that were on it were terrible and held on with velcro.
    IMG_0232.png IMG_0233.png

Painted the horns (one per side of the bike) to look a little better... for whatever reason there is red paint slopped onto the Yamaha logo on the engine... so I added some of my own.
    IMG_0218.png

Also, that one different colored pipe... the original owner drove this thing around for years on only 3 cylinders... the 4th was never used for like 10 or 12 YEARS!!!

A cereal box and Bondo. my word. like a depraved form of paper mache. my Hurricane had some interesting mods done to it as well. the rear seat was chopped off and the light brackets all welded back on to make it kind of look ok. he put a different non Honda headlight on it, and took the fairings off because street fighter/they were ruined in a crash. entire frame and all was painted black and the red seat you see was replaced with a black Corbin seat right before I bought it. I bought it for a song and it has 12k miles on it. for a bike from 1988, it's an absolute rocket. riders much better than myself have gotten this bike to squeeze off a hi 10 second quarter mile pass . if my parents ever found out I own a motorcycle and have been hiding it in the shed they never use they'd probably blow a main fuse or maybe even a head gasket. I want something smaller to cruise around that can be thrown around much easier. Suzuki makes a bike called the tu250x. single cylinder with fuel Injection. I rode one for the license tests stuff and I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it. also, 320 pounds is a BMX bike compared to the 600 mine weighs. I'm 200 pounds away from riding a Harley. I love all your bikes with these wild stories. good stuff all around here.

Alright, you win. That is some real rattyness going on there. Running on 3 cylinders, wires all over the place and spray painted tires. How would his car look like? And he probably saved a few quids on maintenance costs with that which isn't worth is in my opinion.

Are you going to (partially) restore it or keep it mostly this way?

No, there is no point really in restoring it as it would cost WAY too much to get all original parts as I guess while a ton of these things were sold... almost none of them were sold in America... which of course is where I live. Every part I bought original to the bike has either come from Japan or Australia and have been mind bogglingly expensive. Besides... it kinda has a weird bit of character to it that I really enjoy. My favorite bit that I have put on it so far is the tail light, so I just might keep going and adding weirder and weirder stuff to it... all while improving performance and reliability of course. I can't envision anyone actually buying this thing off of me anyways so I might as well have fun with it right?
