Changed the bearing of the wheel that smacked the kerb. Been putting this off for so long because changing bearings without a press sucks actual butt.

Wheel, caliper, brake disc, CV nut off. 4-stud slidehammer on.

Rear spindle, bearing circlip out. Walloped the ever-living crap out of the bearing using a mallet, hammer, 30mm impact socket, cigarettes, and swearing.

Didn't document the reassembly because my hands were covered in bearing grease and general muck.

You can see the hairline cracks in the outer bearing race from the impact. And to think I hit 160km/h on this bearing in this state. Yikes.

Since it snowed about 6 inches I went to go slippy-sliding in my Impreza, which went swell until I found myself coming up against a bus on a road not big enough for the two of us. Since I reasoned the bus would probably win, I pulled over to let the bus by, and managed to slide sideways into the ditch due to going a little too close to the edge... oops. Amazingly however I was still able to get going with little issue, turn around in reeds as tall as the car in a mushy field and manage to get a run up on the bank of an adjacent road's ditch, getting the car back onto the road without fault. Getting out did mysteriously illuminate the ABS and upon testing the ABS system was obviously non functional. I pulled over to the side to inspect any damage from the reeds which I thought may have caused my ABS issue, of which there was none due to the snow/ice layer that had formed around the car due to the snowy conditions, however not finding any damage I hopped back into the car and continued my journey without doing any closer checks on the car... only to slide right back into another ditch sideways due to the exact same issue as the first time; the shoulder was too icy and sloped and all accelerating did was spin the tires, breaking grip and causing the car to slide into the ditch.. Luckily this time a shallow slope was ahead ~30 feet from a country driveway which I used to again get back on the road, only damaging my pride in the process. Upon reaching home I found the source of my ABS related issues; the wheel wells were filled completely inside, top and bottom with snow from my off-road extravaganza. After cleaning out the blockage the abs light turned off after moving a few feet and luckily I learned a lesson on why not to pull over too close to the ditch on snowy roads which I can only hope will make me less of an idiot.

On a side-note, this entire experience has been a massive bout of confirmation bias on buying a Subaru and why snow tires are well worth the cost; Few cars would have been able to get out of a 4-6 foot snowy ditch without any outside help.

Your insurance company must love you, seriously with the amount of vehicles you manage to trash how are you even insured? Man I wish I had the money to piss away on new and vehicles in good shape, I bet if I put the money you've spent on vehicles in the last year could have gotten my RSX to 600hp.

Took a picture of one of them.

For a 21 year old truck with 100,000 miles It doesn't clean up too bad.

(note: this is my family's car, not mine. I can't drive yet.)
We got some much-needed new tires today, at least one of the old set was illegal to use. A full set of Kumhos cost about £220 at out local tire place. We only cleaned the wheels today to get rid of the gunk, we're going to the Lake District on Sunday so that'll definitely get the car dirty. We'll clean it when we get home.

    Brakes yellowed from the water.
    In case anyone is wondering what we drive, this should clear it up;

    It's the 170bhp version of the 2.0. Manual 6spd.

I had a problem with my upper intake manifold letting in coolant and burning it and eventually the week prior a huge leaking problem also. One Saturday and ~$175 later and I have a new upper intake manifold, lower intake manifold gasket, upper and lower heater hose elbows, water pump, and air filter because the hose wouldn't stay clipped to the OEM box one.

Yes it is a cheap ebay one, but it's a high mileage 2002 Buick Lesabre, so anything to filter dirt was an option. I just have to figure out a better mounting solution for the ECU and make a heat shield.

I was getting a little sick of the feeble headlights on my truck, so I put on some cheap Halogen lights.

They really light up the road.

Just goes to show you don't need illegal HID conversions that only really serve to fuck up other road users nights in order to see.

Hate people that do that. It's fine if you put in the proper projector housing but without that it is a safety issue.

I towed about 12,000 lbs with my pickup today, I was actually quite amazed at how well it did.

Today i finished up the cowl panel on my 1970 Elcamino. I painted it and then bolted the fenders on. (after 2 hours and a few curse words). Next i bolted on the hood which barely fits over the 5.3 liter LS engine. Il get some pictures of it up sometime. Just need money for wheels and tires because its sitting on blocks with $2k worth of brakes.

Without that they actually don't illuminate the road as effectively either. Light spread patterns are wrong and all that light that the reflector housing could focus onto the road from a halogen, tends to be emitted away from the road. These guys *think*they are seeing more. They aren't. Their eyes are reacting to the heavy blue shift that most of these aftermarket hids are running, the eye is most sensitive to blue light and so you think you are seeing more detail in objects, you actually aren't. And again because they can now see trees and strretlamps they think they see more, in a way that's true but they're seeing less of the road, the road that is the thing they need to see.

A projector and a a warm white hid is the best way to go. Not reflector and super cold.

The 07's radiator has an unbelievable amount of seeds and bits of plants stuffed in every nook and cranny after driving through an unmowed field. All of the coolers are stuffed full of it.
I'm gonna have to put it up on the lift at school to remove all of the hay hanging from the undercarriage.
    Worth it.

To play devil's advocate, if you live in the country you do want light off to the side of the road. It's the only way to see an animal before it tries to cross. You have to look for the reflection in their eyes.

To play devil's advocate, I use halogen reflectors and do alot of country driving, there is adequate side lighting as is.hid in reflector doesn't illuminate grassy verges, most of the light ends up aimed above waist height.

My car came with hids and I agree they don't help you see more and only serve to blind people. Went back to stock after 2 days.

And that's a very good point. Moral of the story: don't be an ass to others by using the wrong lights

I cut the resonator off the end of the Focus's exhaust system. Sounds really good actually. Totally could pass for a factory performance option.

...You acknowledge that it IS a resonator rather than a muffler and yet you still just removed it? They put them there for a reason you know... and the removal of it will affect the airflow regardless of if it was actually "strangling"(in quotation marks because it probably IMPROVES air flow) and they don't make cars in a way where you can just take off bits of the exhaust or mess with anything and not have to also have to computers changed unlike with old carburated cars. So dispite my limited knowledge of cars even I could tell you, just put it back on.

Who pissed in your cereal this morning? Lighten up, you don't need to be critical of everything someone does.
