I have heard conflicting reports about the quality of the FH3 port from the Xbox. some say it's a low-quality port, but other say it's an excellent game. I don't know who to listen to. I have played the demo, and it ran fine but froze once. The optimization isn't a real problem for me, I just wanted to make sure it isn't a crash-fest. can anyone provide feedback?
Looking at your specs in your signature, you will run it fine. Considering that the demo has no issues on your system, the full game would more than likely be the same. Horizon 3 still freezes on the PC for a lot of players so there is next to no chance of resolving that until the devs fix it.
It's been running flawlessly (with a few crashes) for me since release although I've heard similar stories - some say it's crap and buggy, some say it's the best thing since sliced bread. I personally love the game as it is the first Forza title that I've ever played and some aspects blew me away since I thought it was a run-of-the-mill arcade racing game. To me it's worth it, but I can't speak for someone else so your mileage may vary.
Well you kinda answered your own question there, just had to take to words out, but yeah there are problems with it(windows audio mixer doesnt let you change the volume that way and semi-frequest crashes as well as the occasional stutter) but at the same time its not the WORST port ever, and I feel like quite a few of the problems would have still been there even if Microsoft designed it purely for windows.
If you are running the 1060 with only 3gb of vram, you might have a crashing issue. Also, because your cpu has relatively low performance per core, you may experience micro-stuttering in heavily vegetated areas (some of the Forrest and all of surfers paradise). I think if you want to run this game on anything above low you will need to lock it at 30, because the stuttering will make it unplayable. I would not recommend it in its current state tbh, the port is a piece of hot garbage and the patches have only added to the problems so far. If I were you I would wait. The only thing that makes this game worth it for me is the "play anywhere" feature which allows me to play it on my xbox as well as PC.
Don't think you really need much performance per core, the Xbone has next to none and it can run the game, I think its probably optimized for running on many cores so that wont be too much of a problem
