Oh that sucks. I once rendered a video in the background while playing Beam. That's how you make an i5 scream for mercy.
Thanks. I am reading through some of the posts, why didn't they keep the old "like" and "dislike" feature?
"Thanks" is older than "Like" here tho. And yes, i think there needs to be at least a "Disagree" option. Happy Bday btw.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! I use the term "like" and "dislike" as a generic term for any sort of feature like that. Facebook has it, Twitter has its own version too. I guess maybe the BeamNG developers wanted the forums to be more like a social media site? --- Post updated --- Also what I've been up to:
Holy shit I feel like death... And I did those 43km (26miles) on one of these piles of trash: It has 3 speeds, no chain and a sodding alternator charging its batteries to keep the GPS and LED's turned on. It is single handedly the worst bike I have ever ridden. The brakes are trash, its uncomfortable, and I'm surprised that there aren't insects orbiting it due to its ridiculous mass. In its top gear its gearing system (which feels friction based) starts slipping too. Half of those miles were 100% not comprised of cycling through muddy forest tracks... However I did make sure to cycle through all the puddles on the way back so that it was left in good clean working condition. I hope whoever stole my bike can never find happiness in their life ever again.
Taking away all of the negative post ratings is pretty dumb. I think we can handle them. Don't treat us like a buncha babies.
I think we need a "shitpost" button: the button would be a poop emoji, and users would have the option to hide posts with a customizable number of shits.
I have to ask: do you prefer bikes with more speeds/gears? Because I usually ride on a home-made single-speed bicycle, even though I have a 7-speed Trek ready to go. Also, a bike with no chain is one of the stranger things I've heard. How does it work?
It uses an axle. There is a thin metal tube that connects the pedals to the rear wheel, no where near enough space to fit a pulley through. --- Post updated --- I much prefer having more gears. Not because I use them all though, its so that I can get the gearing to the point where I am at a comfortable pedalling speed and maintaining a good pace. My past few bikes have always had around 18-24 gears (3 on pedals, 6-8 on rear wheel), generally I always leave the pedal gear in the middle one and then just use the rear gears. However when going up steep hills or pedalling through thick mud the first set of gears is great, since you can get incredibly high amounts of torque without pedalling too fast. Then the third bank of gears is only used when going downhill, however I didn't use them often since free wheeling was fast enough.
I'm not sure about that. If you had said that about a year ago, I would have agreed with you, but this forum seems to have gone downhill a bit in the last few months. I did like the concept of 'dislikes', though. Someone in another thread made the suggestion that having a 'dislike' button should be a privilege, not a right, unlike the other options.
I quite like how its less cluttered with fewer responses. However I am really not a fan of how it adds a blue bar to the bottom of every post. I wish it was inline with "report", "quote" and "reply" so it didn't take up so much space. Equally having the icons be transparent is irritating because you can' see where to move your mouse until you highlight over the bar, I think making them fade to 40% transparency would be better. I feel that everything that we can now convey with this current system, we could already convey with the single button "like" system. The only times the like button system seemed a little odd is when liking a post about someone dying or similar, the new system doesn't help with that much .A dislike button may be useful to go along side the like button, however I can understand the concerns around adding a negative response option. Although in my opinion I would rather see a comment get a load of thumbs down's rather than 6 posts following it from people with nothing to contribute. Personally I would much rather that people ignore spam/immature posts, but one can only dream... Perhaps we could all repurpose the "awesome" one to be in a sarcastic context similar to "good for you" or "cool story bro"
