    Hi guys,

I was just planning my next map for after I finish the current ones I have on the go and I was wondering what actually do YOU the community actually want from a map?

I know what I want from a map but the ideas of one person really do not reflect the views of everyone hence why I'm here asking what do you look for in a map.

Leave it in the comments bellow and I will aim to reply and hopefully use them in a map in the near future

    -Jonny

I personally enjoy having a good offroad area in a map. Besides crawl central, there haven't been a large number of rock crawling maps.

I like good modders to create it.
Good Luck! It's long and hard journey to modhood. :)

Keeping it realistic is always nice, like houses that have some distance from a street having a driveway or streets not being unrealistically steep/bumpy. Good luck :)

yea most people enjoy realism, the time and effort into a mod or map, but usually they only see the blood sweat and tears with the final product or never. People enjoy custom things, unique something never done before, others like it plain and simple. The best and most affective way to get peoples attention is detail, effort, and patients. And that never depends on the people but the creator. Also I found its better to create something that people can enjoy for long hours of gameplay, and not just run the map once and be done with it. Making things interesting, and messing with peoples mind aka trolling them never hurts! The number one rule tho is have fun modding, dont stress yourself too much lol

I like the idea of some offroading, crawling in a map. I also want a map that has smooth enough roads so that I can race on them. I often race on the roads of official maps and therefore i wan't the roads to be smooth enough for me to not jump lose contact with the ground too much. And I want those roads to be fast too. That said I really like the thoughtruckmap, especially the mud crawl part of the map. Maybe a combo of both?
Look at utah for example. It has some quick and winding smooth roads but it also has some offroad bits to it too(it doesn't have mud crawls though).

I really miss places. Actual meaningful places. I just need a reason to drive around the map, basically roleplaying.

I just want to select a home, go to the shops, have a junkjard to tow crashed cars to, be able to go to the beach via some bumpy trail and have loading bays at shops, factories and a lumberjard or something like that. Offroad is always a good thing to have aswell. Like some forest trails with maybe some mud and dropped logs. Also a river crossing.

Just give plenty of things to do. Sadly it is hard to make. You'd have to engineer everything that normally takes decades in real life.

I look for diverse elevation and terrain changes. It's not very entertaining if the map is perfectly flat.

    Also Easter eggs. ;)

If someone asked me what an interesting map was, Id say one with abit of variety. This variety doesn't have to be one specific area, but multiple ones.
    1. For example you could have a mix of highway driving and cross country bending roads.
2.Another thing which already was mentioned is relief (shape/ height of the land). One part of the map could desolate be flat, whilst another could be very mountainous or a series of rolling hills like the Appalachian mountains.
3.Appearance is an important factor as well, if you dont have much to look at, it can be quite a boring map. Make it pretty. Things like rock formations, farmhouses, garages, Burnt-out vehicles, houses and vegetation can make it seem more full. Or, just put in things that dont fit with the norm.
    4. Lastly, use the beauty of nature. Anything to make map feel more of something can make it completely different. Add things like sunsets, amazing vistas or natural sounds to add depth.
(bit of a list but hey ho)

I like maps that are much like real towns or cities for roleplaying, one that has neighborhoods and stores. Kind of like Garfield Heights but there is only two maps that I know of that are like this.

I look in the reviews, and count how many people say they cant run it. its a good indicator on how detailed/high quality the map is, download size is something i take into consideration too.

in all seirousness i look for something that is well made and unique, something that adds to the game and brings something new to to the table. may that be a giant ramp (car jump arena, a map that i have spent HOURS on) or a simple long highway (endless highway, another map i have spent way too much time on) as long as its different and adds new content to play with ill probably click download.

As for maps that i want to see made, i need a snowy map, based off of eastern/western canada. something i can slip and slide on.

I enjoy, some dirt roads possibly mud in some areas. Airport to drag if needed, rock crawling areas and just roads to cruise maybe a two lane highway and some pull off areas for sight seeing.

FPS-Friendly (tough one, I know) suburban town with varying elevations, bumpy/not flat roads with some curves (Kind of like Garfield Heights), and houses with odd driveways that aren't just straight or flat rectangles. A couple stores, maybe a highway but not too many trees.
