aargh, using a virtual joystick driver called vJoy. vJoy shows up in the hardware tab of BeamNG, but its not reporting any inputs. all zero. I know that the values are in there, becuase other programs work with vJoy. Any ideas on some "under the hood" troubleshooting? thanks. --- Post updated --- so I started to RTFM, and i want to look at input maps, but all the posts related to them (are old) and refer to directories in the game folder that don't exist (anymore).
vJoy and similars will give you a bad time with BeamNG.Drive. Our game can use basically any device, without the need of fancy third-party program. Just do not use that program, and configure your controller directly from the game's controls menu. (By the way, what controller is that?)
the pic is from a 1985 Honda Accord hatchback that I bought for a few hundred bucks back in 1999. Had over 200k miles, but was an awesome car. very regrettably I had to scrap it in 2001....
well im kinda cobling together my own. I rippped the guts out of a an old logitech wheel, installed a small encoder (directly coupled to the steering shaft) and I programmed an Arduino to keep track of the position and send the data to the PC. I have a Visual basic program that reads the data from the Arduino, and then pumps it into the vJoy "virtual joystick". Its a shame I can't get it to work. I suppose I could just buy a proper wheel, but this kindof stuff is my hobby.
Do the values show up correctly in Windows drivers control panel? If so, send a support report so i can take a look: http://wiki.beamng.com/BeamNG_FAQ#A..._a_.27Support_Request.27._How_do_I_do_that.3F
Yes the values show up fine in the windows devices control panel. I started a support case (7724) ticket # 11102. Thank you so much!
