I am just wondering if beamNG could be implemented into games for NEW consoles (not the 360 or PS3). Microsoft and Sony are bound to come up with some new systems soon. BTW, I am not a "console lover".
To develop for a console you need to buy a devkit, and have to pay royalties to sony or ms after releasing the game. I'm pretty sure the devkit costs more than a year's salary of a well-paid programmer.
http://www.beamng.com/threads/254-Next-Gen-Consols?highlight=console This was talked about a while back. It would be nice to have this game on a console, but it doesn't seem practical.
i would imagine the mod-ability would be far to limited on console for it to be a success, but maybe another games developer might use this physics engine in a game that gets released on the next gen consoles.
If the BeamNG team were to port BeamNG over to the xbox or PS3 and even newer titles they'd have to severely water down the game and it would loose all modability. I'd say leave it on the PC..
I agree with all the points above. One obvious problem would be downloading the custom "mods" for the game. Another would be that the game would be watered down, & I'm not sure how you would fit all the different commands into a 21 (PS3) command controller (PC is different, since you can connect the controller to move the car & other immediate stuff & use the non-immediate stuff on the keyboard [e.g. like in RoR using the "F"(F1-F12, Alt+F1-Alt+F12, Cntrl+F1-Cntrl+F12) buttons to move the crane's boom, extend/retract it, etc.] ).
