As you can see, I live in San Jose yet I have an internet speed that is slower than 86% of the US. I know this is our maximum speed because it has never tested significantly higher than 5/0.65 before. This means that a small YouTube video can take an hour or two to upload and a 1 GB game in Steam takes around 15-20 minutes to download. What ISP would you recommend that is widely available in the US or California?
Don't most ISPs in the US own areas of cities and land which forces you to use them, so you might be stuck. Not to mention you can probably just upgrade the package you have assuming stuff like fibre is available, will cost more though of course. There probably won't be any great choices overall anyway.
AT&T Gigapower offers 1 Gbps internet for the same price as our current plan and it's offered in our area but not at my house... :/ Edit: ...Gigapower... ehehe... hehe.. lol
Atlantic Broadband is pretty decent but it's not available on the west coast. I've never tried any other ISP so other than that I don't have any suggestions.
My suggestion: get Verizon. FIOS is way faster than that, but isn't break the bank expensive. If you live on the west coast, Cox might be an option too.
Hey, my speed here (for download) is about 17 mbps with AT&T. I think they improved their internet cus I used to have 5mbps like you. So now the problem is fixed for me. How about you?

I recommend Verizon. My dad had it for a while, and it seems to be reliable. You can sign up for a plan that includes internet and a landline.
My up/down is now 1/2 that, not to mention the 900ms ping at minimum. To think I used to have 300/100 at 13ms ping :/
