my ideas are these: a "tread depth" or "type of tread" where the less tread you have the worse the tire is or where the harder the tread, the less grip it has. vehicle weight could factor in as well. if you have an aggressive offroad tread, the tires will perform better on dirt or vice versa. another thing could be, the heavier the vehicle is, when you go to slide, the more the tires will "dig" into the ground.
