How about a decently "boxed" but modernized vehicle? Like this vehicle. She has a bit of a box frame, but has a modern touch. http://www.3dcadbrowser.com/download.aspx?3dmodel=34532 In other words, we need a touch of modern with these vehicles. I know its easier to get a decent crash out of a boxed vehicle, but to see how a modern vehicle would crumple under these physics would be fascinating. Also, giving us a complex curved modern vehicle would really show your modelling talent. (Directed to whoever does take the challenge, like a few folks over in the content creation section). What do you guys think? At least one modern vehicle? PS. Still very satisfied with what has been provided in terms of vehicles. Just a simple suggestion, nothing more.
I've always wanted to kill one of those Chryslers spectacularly...too bad BeamNG doesn't simulate fire. I've personally got some projects along the lines of what you mentioned, but I have no idea if I've got enough progress on them to justify posting to the showroom yet. We've also got the Hirochi Sunbeam and a bunch of WIP community stuff coming up as soon as slidenodes are implemented, so it really should just be a matter of time.
A lot of modern cars have McPherson struts and for now BeamNG can't "emulate" McPherson struts for now
Wait, what? I know you probably aren't the guy to ask, but why wont it? A MacPherson strut is pretty simple...
Not 100% sure, but if I can remember/interpret correctly, it's because MacPherson struts need slidenodes, which aren't implemented yet.
its probably because the coil spring in torque 3d doesn't actually spring up and down as a real one would, they just put the "spring" in the upper and lower control arm pivot points... but then I don't see why they wouldn't be able to just put one spring thingy in the lower control arm pivot points of a machperson strut setup. But I have no idea what the slidenodes are or about video game programming so my guess is just an uninformed one.
We can't simulate the sliding action of a MacPherson strut (that locates the wheel's camber) without slidenodes.
Well, I'm excited again. Now someone get on modelling a Sebring! (Or a PT Cruiser. That would be equally acceptable.)
If you care enough to wait for that long, I'll probably do a latest model BMW 6 series Gran Coupe(aka the 4-door) after my 2 current projects are done.(I pretty much refuse to make the low-spec front bumper at all though, instead I'll probably make a Hamann or M6 one or something. The stock bumper just ruins the design completely)...
