At the moment this level is very bare bones, but there are some things I need tested. Beta Testing The following things need to be tested in the latest update: Are there any errors when loading the map? Are there any missing textures on the map? Do all of the models have collision properties? Overall, what is the performance when running this map on your computer? Please state if you have a low, medium, or high end PC. What kind of ramps would you like to see, and where? Updates October 16, 2013 New drain model added to the map. The river in the drain is now deeper. The space between the river and the slop is now wider. Bridge columns were adjusted for the new drain. The storm drain now has textures. The drain is now capped off on both ends. The drain now has rounded edges to prevent car tires from getting stuck during a drift or at a slow speed (low poly count for low end PC's). The canal was added at the end of the drain. 3 ramps were added to the map (WIP). An ocean has been added to the map. Although there are still no "boundaries", you will now go in the ocean when going off of the map. Terrain is still a work in progress. October 10, 2013 New bridge model. All current vehicles fit under and on the bridge, including the big truck. Bridge now has textures. Bridge added back to the map. Water has been added to the drain (WIP). Improved dark ground texture. Shadows were adjusted. Changed the Sun and lighting. The drain was too high from the ground, which resulted in some cars not being able to get back on the drain. This issue has been fixed. October 8, 2013 The drain model has been added back to the level. Bridge model has been removed until the next update. The drain still needs to be capped off, but the ends are now closed with terrain (still possible to go off of the map) The ground texture has been fixed. The spawn point has been moved inside of the drain. What will be in the next update (Version 1.5), and what are you working on? Blue - Will be in the next update for sure. Red - Will not be in the next update. I've spent a good portion of time modeling and setting up the storm drain. The model is final, and now I'm finalizing that section of the map. I'm aware that the level at the moment needs more gameplay value, which I'm working on it now. Completely building a map (materials, objects, models) from scratch takes time. Thank you for your patience! Ramps, ramps, and more ramps! I'm in the process of redesigning the ramps. Some will be for clearing objects, where others are used solely for crashing. I'm mocking up some concepts for the next section of the map, the old train station. I want this section to change the dynamics of how you play (different than the drain). More organic and natural-like. Fixing the yellow barriers on the bridge, because their being a pain for some people. Changing the cloud system, and a new skybox. Day and night cycle. Map Concept: Note: Everything you see in this map may not be added to the final version. Everything is still a work in progress. Latest version is oldriver_version_1.zip
Re: [WIP] Older River Textures not loading for me, except for the white bridge material. I like the idea of this map, looking forward to trying it out more.
Re: [WIP] Old River Thank you for the feed back! Yes, I made it myself, and have them inside of the main map folder. I'm trying to troubleshoot it now, but I don't see a solution just yet. Do you have any ideas?
Re: [WIP] Old River It's silly how much fun I'm having with this. I keep resetting at the end and experiment with how fast I can smack those pillars. So far, 230MPH.
Re: [WIP] Old River I'm glad to see you're enjoying it so far! I'll work on setting a spawn point in the drain so you don't have to drive all the way there and back in the future.
Re: Old River I know right? It's like...it was made for that..... In related news, I was curious what would happen if I tried jumping it going...very fast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l37-K1D3wfE Well what do you know, I made it!
Re: Old River I've attached a new zip file for more testing. Please tell me if there is still an error with the terrain texture. Please note: The drain and bridge model were taken out, so I suggest you save a copy of the original if you want to continue playing it after testing.
Re: Old River Textures work this time, but the detail distance is too low, causing it to lose the dirt colour after 50m or so, I increased it to 1000m and it looked better. I made the textures look better using these settings, I swapped the Diffuse texture with the detail texture.
Re: Old River I think I figured out the issue. My terrains folder was missing the materials.cs file that was created when making my new terrain. I uploaded a new zip file. Hopefully it works this time!
Re: Old River Haha, you work fast. That was a quick fix. Well it's 5am and insomnia sometimes has it's limits. I look forward to what you come up with in 4-6 hours when my alarm clock feels my fist. Thanks for the working on the fixes, best of luck.
Re: Old River I really had to study the other level files to find the fix. Thank you for the great testing!
Re: [WIP] Old River oh yeah I have plenty ideals for you, since you said you want to have objects you can crash into, well I know how and where you can set them up for epic crashes. It all just a matter of if you need help.
