Downloading Mods Slow Until I Use VPN

Anytime I try to download mods from the beamng website it downloads really slow and can take around 30 minute to download a 50mb file. It has been like this for many months and has kind of kept me from download more mods. Recently I had the idea to try my vpn so I did and I was able to download the same file that would take 30 minutes in under 1 minute. I'm just curious as to why its doing this.

What VPN are you using?

Im downloading through the mods page.
I use PIA(Private Internet Access)

I have tried using using different browsers and I still get slow downloads. Only thing I haven't tried is using a different pc to download them, might try this later.

I'm having the same problem. Haven't tried a VPN, but downloads are very slow for some reason.
