My hope for the vehicles In BeamNG. This is some examples for an offroad system.

Maybe have some Universal Frames to mont different suspension systems and body`s to.

Be able to move the suspension around on the frame, to make it fit different body types

    Some examples

this is just what I dream of, I am a big offroading fan,
and would love some more options to put together some cool trucks.

This idea is great. I'm totally supporting it.

pretty sure it would be a lot of fun to build the craziest configurations

Oh yeah! The ultimate level of customization! This is one of the best ideas I have ever seen on the BeamNG suggestion forums. We could be able to put a Burnside body on a pickup frame, with a Bolide engine! Or slide the suspension really close together, with an SBR4 engine, put a pigeon body on, and have the ultimate crazy offroad Pigeon!

By the way, how did you make the pictures, did you just use the node grabber tool to position frames and bodys from the different cars?

Thanks everyone, and hope to hear from a BeamNG dev member, if this is even possible :) How i did the pics.... I stripped down the cars, paused the physics, entered the world editor and just moved the cars into place :)

This is a good idea, but I don't think it will add much to the game. This is just my opinion, but I feel that slapping new bodies on the same chassis doesn't do much for the game. Nothing will change with the cars, because they will all handle nearly identically and have the same capabilities due to the suspensions and drivetrains being identical. Maybe there would be a little bit of difference due to body weight, but for the most part it would be like driving the same car with a different look. I think the devs should focus on adding more cars, and more parts for the cars we do have. Plus it would be really hard to do, since all the cars have different wheel bases and there would be clipping issues with the frame.

Some frames are stronger than others, and the cars that do clip do not have to be on that frame. It would be great to have a roamer based on the heavy duty D series frame. There arent too many body on frame cars in the game anyway. Unibody is the way to go.

Excellent idea, to have just the frame selectable in the vehicle selector and then have the rest of the parts available via parts menu as for the current vehicles. That would come along way.

Moving suspension might be difficult? Unless there is different mountingpoints or something?
Otherwise, this should not be that hard to do with the current setup.. A frame in vehicle menu, different bodies in the parts menu and a multitude of unique parts for each slot that covers different areas/configurations.

    Cool idea. :)

It adds more options, more customisation. I see you point you want more new cars, I want that to, but that takes a lot of time and resources. Why not make what we have already more modular?

And the pickup frame was just a example since it already have a lot of different suspension systems for it.
But why not build an all new frame, a more universal one for people how wants to build crazy cars and trucks, where we can have all new suspensions systems
(4 link system rear and in the front) where we can have different shocks and springs for different types of driving and jumping.

And yes I want more parts for the cars, that adds more options and customisation for us :)

And yes I know different cars have different wheel bases, that is why I suggested we be able to slide the suspension systems backwards and forwards on the frame
(like we can do with the wheels today)
I do not know how this would work since the suspension have so many more parts + the wheels that can be moved in a different axis.
I just think this would be awesome, and I guess this will mean a lot of coding and hard work, if at all possible to implement....
But maybe more options, more customisation = A broader audience ?

I love the idea and in fact proposed something similar a year ago. It would admit various approaches, from the extreme tuning using existing bodies like in your examples to a more ambitious "car designer" mode where bodies could be created/modified through an in game editor (just dreaming) and combined with existing assets (engines, suspensions, etc. )

I did a search but did not find anything like this. But I like your last post there. And If this Is possible, I have some more ideas of how to fit the different body`s to the frame, so it would not be clipping into the frame or floating in mid air :)
