Edit: we have a group now. Join here. The first championship will be posted soon has been posted.

I was thinking it would be fun to have a casual rally championship every month or two. There could be three four or events, one event per week, and participants upload their run to youtube or somewhere and post it here (or in our own group or something). Then we get points for our placement in each event, add em up, call it a championship.

I don't even follow rally events in real life, I've just watched some people do something like this on YouTube with Dirt Rally and thought it would be cool to do with this game. Obviously we can't really do things like damage repairs and stuff like that so it'll be pretty casual. Also, I've never done this type of thing before so I don't claim to know anything about how to organize such a league. That said, I still think it would be fun to do.

Anyone think they want to participate? (edit: do post if you want to participate) If maybe seven or ten people (I count about twelve or so participants, more are welcome) say they want to do it, we can start ironing out details. I'm imagining we can entirely use the BeamNG forum to communicate, either through this thread or a group. Also I don't expect to place well in the championships, so don't feel bad about joining at a low skill level. Or a high one.

I was thinking the first championship could just be some of the rally scenarios that BeamNG drive already has, but I'm open to other suggestions.

If this gets enough attention, I always enjoy participating in these kinds of things and would enter. I'd also be willing to take replay files of people's best runs at the end of the competitions and record them for people who don't have a powerful enough computer to do so themselves.

I think it is good idea. I am not very good driver too, but it can be fun. And the idea with replay files is briliant I think.

    I would join too.

By some experience in racing against @Spec Racer Z I think we would know the Rallye Champ in advance ;-) He is insanely fast with every car...

    I'm willing to participate :p
And alongside the stock rally scenarios we could also make some modded scenarios for this league.

Not a horrible idea. I'm more interested in tuning the cars to go fast than actually competing in them. 2 classes. 4wd and fwd. Spec motors with whatever else you want to do to the car allowed.

I'd love to take part in this! @Scepheo organised something like this a while back, with custom rally scenarios and that was great fun.

That is a very good idea, the more people can participate the better

Forgive me for needing to guess, I'm assuming you're referring to group B custom vehicles? It's a possibility, if there's enough interest in that sort of thing.

You can participate. Anyone with this game and an internet connection can participate, ideally.

Stock scenarios will obviously run out eventually, I was just thinking we'd use them to start. Custom scenarios will definitely by necessary.

This isn't my thing so much, but it sounds like a really neat idea. I'm not quite sure how we'd make a championship of that, but I think it's a great thing if we can figure it out.

Custom skins for the cars sounds fun (although I don't know how to do that type of stuff). Customizing our cars, as I said above, sounds cool but I'm not sure how to make rules for that sort of thing. Once we figure out how to implement the rules for it, we could do it for specific championships (or all of them, if the rules are straight forward enough).
I was thinking any controllers should be welcome, though there might be a pretty clear advantage for wheel users. Maybe if there are enough controller users, there can be a controller-users championship on the side or something.

My idea was that this league would keep doing a championship every so often for as long as there is enough members and enough interest. Members wouldn't have to participate every championship of course, but I think it would be nice to keep this going if it makes sense to. If that doesn't really happen and we only get one or two championships in, that's OK too - it'll still be fun to do.

    So:
-what are our thoughts on how to make rules for car modding
-what are our thoughts on the type of events we'd do in general

This might be wishful thinking, but it sounds like it's happening

It would be nice to have different classes to make things fair. So like cars with 350 BHP and up have their own class and cars under that can stay in their own catagory. That way times are fair.

If someone can get this up and running, making sure that there are weekly challenges and leaderboards. Sure I would be in.

For the cars used, I think vanilla models form the game should be used. There are loads of ready made rally configs like the K Series and the Pessima that are suitable for the task. Of course, if you wanted to modify your car, there are plenty of suspension tuning options in the garage. Plus it means that cheating is reduced and there is a level playing field.

I think that mods shouldn't be allowed, only vanilla parts. Same with tuning.
