I have a mid-2000s American car... Surprisingly rust free. My early 2000s American pickup truck on the other hand... Fucking GM...
My wagon had a rust spot on the rear quarter panel. Wisconsin winters aren't nice to cars My dad and I fixed it over the summer though
I don't have a speck of rust anywhere on my '07. The 06's passenger side floorboard was rusted to shit though, from the inside out. Must have had a leak somewhere over there that went unaddressed for a very long time.
I win. The back drivers side floorboard on the old 240 (Which I'm still dailying) is so bad that I can bend it out of the way by hand. Also, @6677 the 88 240 has a turbo and a locker. Locker>LSD. And RWD>AWD. It is rusty, but no holes in the floor. There used to be one but it was fixed by a PO. --- Post updated ---
its sentimental value hey it will sell for what people will be willing to pay. Well I saw a unrestored LHD RX3 on Trademe, The guy is asking 50k for it 50K!. Yeah who said that jappas will never be collectible.
You added the lockers? I'd line up against that 240 of yours. The bug eye would probably get me tho. If my floor pans ever go I'm going to remove them fully and do a Flinstones swap. Remove engine and haul ass. I'll need shoes with racing slick soles.
Probably but I dunno how much wrx would win by. It isnt the all singing all dancing sti. It's EJ20 turbocharged to 215hp in UK tune. Dunno how much power you're making, civics can at least be tuned that far, though even if you tune a civic, fuck knows how the more important area under curve compares, fuck knows how much awd versus lighter weight would impact things. Eh. Could just be a fun experiment. If I get the chance I'll whack it down Santa pod and get a quarter mile time
I thought you had closer to 250, it might be closer than I thought. I'm running on a modified basemap to try to account for the intake and exhaust I'm running until my wide band comes in the mail. Stock b16b makes 185 bhp with standard airbox and cat etc. I'd guess it makes 190bhp now and between 200-210 after I spend a few days tweaking the fuel map and seeing if another degree or 2 of timing won't make it ping. The big difference like you said is effective thrust under the curve, and that you can tune for more power easier than I can. If my Trans couldn't keep constantly keep me above 6500 I wouldn't stand a chance. I also weigh right around 2600 American pounds. Let's go from a 20 roll You guys have any suggestions for cheap dash cams?
Unless there's slightly different units involved here, it looks like you guys got dunked on. 227 is the figure I seem to recall for the US model. Uh, you know he's in Englandland right?
US model has an EJ22 rather than the EJ20 used in the UK models. I'm closer to 3100lbs too. Though at least have awd for the rolling start. And option of hitting over 250hp with just a remap. Pump, injectors, intercooler it can do more, though stock turbo runs out of puff around 280hp
That's really nice. You gonna flash it? No way id hit 250 without a bit more compression and some nice cams. For that money I'll put this 1.6 in a gutted track car and throw in a 1.8 non vtec and run a gt28rs or a gt2871r for an easy 350bhp. All motor builds are for people with more money than me. --- Post updated --- Honestly chuck, I'm still not at the point of intellectual maturity where I can even grasp that there is a whole nother group of land masses across the atlantic with other people living on them.
Rumor has it that there is a rainy rock in the north Atlantic full of people with bad teeth who at one point in history controlled about 3/4 of the planet. Just a rumor though. On a less stupid note, A buddy of mine bought a 96 half ton 4wd Dodge Identical to mine the other day to pull the trans out of. I'm thinking of taking it's 360 and throwing some money at it and seeing what happens. It's got about 180,000 on it, and has what sounds like a slight bottom end knock, only noticeable when it's up to temp, Doesn't seem to bother it though, he drove it 3 hours home at 75 on the interstate and it held a solid 50 lbs of oil pressure the whole time. I'm thinking ditch the fuel injection, go with a 750 or 800 on either a Performer or Victor Jr. The cheap but good Aussie Engine Quest heads. Rebuild the bottom end, but while I'm down there I might as well throw a 410 stroker crank in it instead. Should be a healthy 475-500-ish HP, and about the same TQ.
Ah good old displacement. My engine doesn't make enough torque to tighten the lug nuts on that truck. What's your motivation for ditching EFI? @Potato I saw the cleanest mercury marauder ever today on the hiway. Couldn't take a pic but it was black with chrome oem wheels on it. Nice mild exhaust. Paint looked immaculate. Very mild tint. Bumper said marauder on it. Super bad ass whip.
I don't know much about those Subarus, but my cousin had very good luck with an apexi power fc. I'd love know if and how many other companies there are that went the hondata route and just made a chip that hijacks the stock computer. The fc should run something like 1100 usd, but that would solve all your problems right there. That's a nice car you got yourself, I'm sure your having a blast in that thing. The focus' death had a silver lining I guess.
What year is your subi? And how is it? Because i am thinking of ditching my audi winter beater for a subaru impreza gt turbo and dont know much about it
It's more trouble than it's worth, Not so much as ditching the EFI as ditching the computer. Also it gets rid of alot of variables that way, turning a "I'm not sure" into a "It's either this or that"
