I'm looking at making a basic mod as far as modeling goes. I want to convert some wheels and what not from Assetto Corsa or preferably take the "skeleton" of those wheels and convert them to a Jbeam usable for Beam.NG. I also would like to create a boost gauge for some cars but I'm not sure of how to tap into the Lua to get the boost pressure and transmit it to a boost gauge that can be mounted on the dash or A pillar or what not. Are there any programs I would need for the Lua or anything? I know I need programs for the modeling part of things but what programs would allow for an easy yet clean interface that I could use to make a gauge pod that is well done. Thanks.
Step 1, get a written permission from author of the game that their game content is allowed to be converted by you. Step 2, ask again when you have a permission. It is much easier to learn Blender and make your own model, it is not that hard really, but takes bit of practice and time to learn. Making good beam structure and good realistic physical properties, like suspension etc. is going to take a lot more time as there are a lot harder things to learn with those, car that is pretty and drives poorly or unrealistically is really useless, we have seen enough of those (from certain places) already I believe.
I figured as much. I just didn't know if I could use a rim and take the "skeleton" of it and Jbeam it for Beam.NG. If I can get some help with a boost gauge I would be extremely grateful. I'm not sure on how to tap into the Lua to get the boost pressure to transfer the reading to a gauge. Thanks for the response! I figured I wouldn't be able to but I figured I may as well try.
There is no "skeleton" you can use from any other game except Rigs of Rods. BeamNG and Rigs of Rods use unique physics systems.
Uuughhh! Don't even bring up Rigs of Rods! I hate the people on that forum. Anyways. You could import the mesh via a mesh importer (Na really!) and export the jbeam as using, guess what! A jbeam exporter!
