I first found out about BeamNG back in mid 2013 from watching Insanegaz (although at the time I still preferred the GTA IV crashes lol) and then when I came across YBR's channel in December 2013 I was hooked I had the demo for quite a while (because I didn't have the money for the full version) I ended up buying the $20 early access thing for the Steam version (best $20 ever spent)
I started playing mid-2013, but I had a crap computer, so I joined the forums when I finally had a better one.
First played the tech demo with the d-series way back in early 2014 on a friends potato HP laptop that got about 15 fps on lowest settings. Got the tech dein for my school laptop soon after and played that until i got my own decent laptop. Registered for steam and then bought the game several days later. Sometime Jan 2016
I discovered BeamNG in October 2014 as I was looking for a replacement for ROR. I should've and could've joined the BNG forums at that time though... I was somewhat known in the ROR forums for my sound mods but I quit ROR in Early 2016 I'm never ever going back to Rigs of Rods
dont know the exact time, i just know it was a bit after the moonhawk got added. so probably some time in 2013. i did play RoR before beam however, and paid no attention to the community. beam was a nice suprise to find when i showed a friend the truck tech demo i just saw a bunch of vids for beamng reccomended and bought it instantly (for those who dont know what im talking about)
Discovered it in late April 2015 through Youtube. First played the techdemo, then bought the game. Don't regret it a single bit!
I've started following the game development like end 2012. Funny enough I didn't discovered the game because I was playing Ror, but because I was making researches on GTA V and I had found a video called like "Revolutionary GTA V physic" or something in this style, but after searching a bit I discovered that it was one of the first Beamng video and so I had found the Beamng forum. But since I wasn't understanding a single English word it, it wasn't funny. I have bought the game, well... When I have created my profile, I remember for the countdown to finish, it was like 2am here. but I haven't been active on the forum since like mid 2014 because I wasn't understanding English at the time. Tbh for one years I was playing on the worst potato you could imagine, with like less that 3go of ram and under Vista, not a fun time.
Like a lot of people I was from RoR and i start with something like 0.36. When I discover there were doing a new game I was super hyped and it's about the same time I started learning modding from RoR which was really usefull for BeamNg because it's quiet similar When they released the first version i wasn't home and i just downloaded the demo version on a craptop. It worked but was a bit ugly. I bought it instantly with my mobile phone credit
ALMOST 700 hours. In about the span of a year. I have no life, but if you think that's a lot, check my overwatch playtime. 200 hours in 4 months. Edit - I get the question now (I feel like an idiot) About 2014, but I signed up for the forums later.
Had it since about the start of 2016. Have 550 hours on it as of today... and not a minute of which was spent with it running in the background. Haven't played it in a few months though, Night in the Woods has taken over for right now
I have been playing ROR since 0.37, I was on the infamous 09Challenger forum, and had practically every single Russian car that people had the files for. I still have a backup of the packs folder that has those mods, it is around 11 gigabytes. Also never got a virus in my more than 600 mods. The ROR Russian mods were far better in comparison when compared to the beamng ones, probably because there was not a parts system. When the Challenger forum started dying out, I made the jump to beamng. I initially was kind of mad at the beamng team, as when 09 joined the forums, he was immediately banned. He could still be here for all I know. I am still kinda mad he never released his impala, he had two other cars finished also, but none of those got released. I initially got my forum account when I turned 13, because I thought that was the youngest you could be, but was soon banned. I created this account with a fake birthday (gasp), as I believed I was mature enough. I am now 16, so I am no longer breaking any rules.
Tech demo early afternoon some day in August 2013, full purchase that late afternoon, 2500+ hours since, no life, bought a $2000 laptop just for this game, not a single warning point, absolutely love learning, making and sharing environment art, real time deformation dream finally comes true, made some friends, great forum camaraderie, feel accepted in life, eye problems have advanced 10 years, no more sticky collisions.......all this and much more for only $20. Loving every fricking minute of it.
I discovered the game through Twoawesomegamers in 2014. I was originally watching their skyblock series, but it came up in my recommended, and yeah.
