A thing that bothers me

That thread was shit from the start though, they were deleting like 2 pages of shit posts per day, so meh. Really not the end of the world that its closed, they always unlock them pretty quickly too so I doubt its locked forever.

Can people stop blaming each other for what happened? It won't change anything and there was more than one people participating (I admit, even myself a bit). It happened, the thread got locked and the comments deleted and will probably stay like this until the update is released, which I'm not mad about as we already know about 90% of stuff coming to the update, even scenarios.

I'll also give sort of a tip to the devs: get admins to this forum that are not related to the game's development, so the devs won't have to stop whatever useful thing they're doing to babysit trolls.

 

More community moderators need to be a thing, but possibly having to go through someone working in the company before the actual thread or comment or user gets deleted, reported, or banned; It would help keep any abuse of this at bay

 

If rules would be a solution we could ban the crime, but that is not working too well IRL, having rules enforced better works to certain extend, but I don't think that is a solution either.

People should find love against each other, see how supporting each other helps to reach much better life, but that requires thinking and it is out of fashion, it is fashionable to just throw up whatever comes to mind without any kind of thinking, flying with emotion.

Solution is whatever helps people to realize that short term pleasure from throwing up leaves bad taste to mouth. I have no idea what that would be though. Stronger enforcing of rules might be band aid that helps a little though.

 

I'm not quite sure what you mean here; what exactly would have to go through someone working in the company? All threads & comments? Post reports?

I'm definitely in favor of having a few more hired administrators & moderators - any internet community over a certain size needs someone working full-time to keep things from devolving into a toxic mess, but even if there were dozens and dozens of people in place, we couldn't screen everything being posted to the forums.

In addition, I'd like to think that the "report post" button shouldn't be made more difficult to use. Since it goes directly to the forum moderators, who can ignore false reports easily, the reporting tool doesn't have great potential for user-to-user abuse.

What we really need is a guide on when to use the reporting tool. What are some examples of "Abuse" of the reporting tool as mentioned in the Forum rules? When should we use the reporting tool? Do we report posts that attempt to derail a thread's topic, or simply try to ignore them?

 

I would be annoyed too if some kept pestering me with "Is it out yet?".

 

My understanding is that report things that are against rules, or what you think is against rules, of course @Nadeox1 can give you correct answer, but yeah, FAQ of how to use report button might be good addition to rules I guess?

 

Here's everything I could find that explicitly mentions the Report Button in the Forum Rules:

Do:

• Report things you think are not alright..
• Ignore spammers (Use the report button).
• Ignore flamewars & alike (Do not feed them! Use the report button).

Do Not:

• Abuse Reporting/Groups/Private Messages.
• Backseat moderate/Forum police - Use the 'Report' button [instead] and leave the dirty job to our moderators.

There are definitely other "Dos" and "Don'ts" in the rules, but its a little unclear which ones are serious enough to warrant a report, and what exactly constitutes "Abusing Reporting". That FAQ (along with a community willing to use the report button properly, and enough moderators on the other end) would go a long way towards cleaning up the boards.

 

Well, I'm not surprised they locked the Update Speculation thread. To me, it was more useless than 10 random threads from Off-topic section together. Shitposting for the sake of shitposting- that's what it was all about.

Could have already locked these threads like i used to say 3-4 years ago and even back then i got shittalked at already for pointing stuff out. So IMHO those shitposters are not really a new thing.

For me personally i just carried on instead of caring for BeamNGGgghhhh.

Yeah, its a forum, its always going to have shit posts and trolls. We don't need more mods, they are doing just fine, thats why the update thread was locked and not just left to fester.

 

And when I use the report button, shit doesn't get fixed. So it's absolutely pointless.

 

Works just fine for me, just make sure to report things worth reporting, not just some random guy who said "shit" or someone you don't agree with.

You know, stuff like this, both of which got removed right after I reported them...

 

We do need more community moderators, and I had made a thread previously about this, only to be shot down by people saying "That's why the report button is there." I also recall Nadeox1 saying that, also. So this is why I'm gonna redirect this back at everyone who is suggesting this. We have the report button.

Also, I'm wondering if the forum rules that appear above the posts are multilingual. If they aren't, it explains a lot. I'm suggesting to make the rules multilingual, if they aren't already.

I also wanted to apologize to the community and the developers for being part of this problem. I was part of the porn pm, cropped rule34 profile pictures, and made pretty useless posts. I will try to be better member, and I hope other members like me who were also part of this problem will take the same path.

 

I was going to post a super-complicated message, well though and everything, then I relealized my English was awful, I was tired and it was really late. And that it was just time wasted, since I've already said thousands of time my option the subject.

Think of a small village, everyone knows each other and follows the rules. But as said village grows and becomes suburban, there will be stupid, annoying, and overall bad people. The same analogy can be used for the beamng community.

 

Before I post anything, I ask myself three questions.

Is it necessary?
Does it contribute to the discussion/community?
Is it respectful?
