Are there known issues with AMD cards?

For the past few months I haven't been able to play BeamNG for more than around 5 minutes before the game hangs.

It plays fine up until that point, then it will hang. I can kill it in task manager however strangely the GPU gets confused and the fans keep working overtime as if the game is still running. The only way to fix it is to restart the machine.

Are there any known problems with AMD cards rendering the game unplayable?

No, that seems to be a problem on your side more likely.

Try to monitor your gpu temperature with like MSI Afterburner OSD, maybe the card gets too hot.
Another possibility would be that you have an unstable (over)clock that only breaks when you play BeamNG Drive. (it's a very common problem of GTA V for example)
My AMD Card just runs fine, so I think there is an issue in your system :(

Would you happen to have a laptop?

i've tried beamNG on my old rig, which has a AMD Radeon R9 200-Series installed, it runs just fine.

Perhaps it might be a Problem on your end :( Would you mind sharing your System Specs? (if you know them, of course.)

Thank you for the replies, I am using a desktop, not a laptop.

I've tried to find the exact card I am using but all the CCC tells me is that it is a Radeon R9 200 Series. I tried playing again today and it lasted a bit longer, maybe 20 mintes or so before it crashed. CCC showed the temperature was around 75 degrees at the time of the crash, is that outside the normal operating window for this type of card?

I'm not sure however why when the program is closed, the GPU activity remains at 100% and the GPU clock speed is stuck at around 1200MHz and it will not slow down without restarting entirely.

The card is not overclcoked, and the log files that BeamNG creates don't seem to mention anything regarding the crash.

Sounds like it could be a driver problem. If you are still using CCC then thats a good year or two old at this point, that was replaced with Radeon settings ages ago. Best idea would be to full uninstall and then reinstall with the latest AMD drivers from the site. https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

The new drivers also have a "clean install" option which would probably be the easier way to do it.

As for temperatures, no they are totally fine.

Just to follow this up, I removed CCC and installed the AMD settings software and so far it hasn't crashed once. Thank you for the help!

I had no idea CCC had been replaced with something else.o_O
