Sure, but you have to drive INSANELY economically (a stop then start could destroy your mileage) and your "car" won't be perticularly well equipped, to save weight.

But you said out of a gasoline engine. Just admit you have no idea what you're talking about and the problem will go away :)

Oh nonono, don't try to justify your moronic actions. You said:

The Yaris is a gasoline car. It's okay to be wrong, we all are sometimes.

The Yaris is a miserable toaster!

And I said it is NEAR impossible. You can get 37 mpg out of a gas car, but it will need to be rather small, have a tiny engine, and low rolling resistance tires. I was exaggerating, it doesn't sound good to say it needs to be carefully engineered, and well made, and have good tires, and have a good transmission, and... Oh, and while you're at it, don't insult me because I don't agree with you. Furthermore, ganging up on someone isn't nice either.

And you have many times proven you have a complete lack of empathy and niceness. You have been rather mean, and I would like you to apologize. You are taking this waaaay to seriously.

37 mpg is about 6 or 7 litter /100kg, no?
It's a lot more than what most cars get here, at least compacts and others, Even SUVs, For exemple the Mercedes GLC with ~210hp, 1.7t, and a lot of equipments get around 36mpg, it's already a pretty big car here.
I don't know what are the standards in your country, but 37mpg is already a lot in France.

This has had me laughing for the last half-hour. You seriously think that was mean? You're not going to enjoy real life then

Says the guy that tries to defend falsehoods with further falsehoods. You get no apology.

    fair point.

I still think a Super Snipe would be better value than one of these. but hey i guess barely anyone wants a Super Snipe but alot of people want 60s and 70s Valiants, Fords and Holdens. There was a time when these were seen as junk and no one wanted them.

The thing I'm wondering today is, would it be possible to stick a Cosworth DFV engine in an old MGB or Ford Capri or whatever and have it actually run reliably on the street without giving up too much in power or RPM?

I shall make a mental note to never say anything ever again, it will just get picked apart, I will get sworn at, and nothing good will happen.

Oh, I haven't a knowledge of cars? So it's just coincidence that my avatar is the Nurburgring and my name is The Green Hell. The Green Hell was Jackie Stewart's (a famous racecar driver) name for the Nordschlife, the big part of the Nurburgring.

I watch Cosmos and could point out Barnard's Loop on a map. That doesn't make me an astrophysicist.

A few years ago I was exactly like you. I would say something stupid, get angry when I got called out, and fight to my last breath to defend myself even if I knew I was wrong. I know where you're coming from. Just think carefully about what you're going to say, make sure it's actually factual, and admit when you're wrong. People will only go after you if given a reason. Once you realise that you're the problem, not them, and change your behavior, you'll notice very quickly that people will be much more agreeable towards you.

Ok, very well. Some gas cars can get over 37 MPG. I am doing this so everyone will leave me alone. Thanks for the advice, I'm sure it will help. Oh, and yes, I guess it is time to stop arguing my point.

Yes, and an F1 car's exhaust can get hot enough to melt aluminum.

We can all google random facts about racing.

    37 US mpg == 44.44mpg == 6.36L/100km
There are loads of petrol/gas cars that can exceed that.
For example you can get an Alfa Romeo Mido that can get 47.1mpg combined and does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. You can get a VW Golf that does 44.8mpg and does 0-60 in 8 seconds. You can get a BMW 120i M Sport that gets very close doing 0-60 in 7.8 seconds in 44.1mpg.
This is searching only for cars that do 0-60 in less than or 8 seconds, above that you will find a lot more.

(All numbers from Autotrader.co.uk, all cars mentioned can be had for less than £5k too)
