not FPS lag, anti lag exhaust system that causes the sputtering gun sounding booms from the exhaust.

For as sick as this would be, I honestly don't know how you would implement it. If there was a way to add a particle emitter to a vehicle then I suppose it could be done

For some reason i find a lot of people in these forums aren't really aware of the know-hows of why some cars spit fire.

First of all, after-fire should be introduced, and there are anti lags system that dont need to sputter fire, but as for the main suggestion i agree.

If it was stated that it was hard/impossible for the game to code twin turbos in an accurate way then i would prefer if there was a way to deal with big turbos and their lag.

You mean exactly like the way the exhaust gas work?

yes its possible, they added dynamic exhaust, and all they need are some particles and a sound

Anti lag also is to improve launch control on usually v-tech engines because the tremendous power

No dude. Anti lag has no effect when you start from a standstill. Anti lag its for those moments in which you drop the gas and the BOV lets all the air escape.

Yeah that's what I'm saying... it would be cool to add in to the game as some small details, some other racing games I've see have had that which gives the game some small detail.

    yes exactly

So it's pointless on turbo drag cars that run upwards of 40psi?

For all the people who seem to have no idea of the actual effect of what "Anti-Lag" actually does.

Anti-Lag is basically fuel being injected into the exhaust manifold before the turbo which will ignite the fuel due to its heat and allow the turbo to spool up and be at an RPM that can actually produce a useful amount of boost. Without this, turbo cars, especially drag cars have to sit at the line waiting for the turbo to spool up rather than being able to stage, then quickly start the anti lag to get boost up and then launch at close to full power.

Here is a great video to show what I am talking about in the case of drag cars. There is a couple good ones around the 40-50 second mark that show how anti lag is meant to be used.

Anti-Lag on Non-drag race type cars is for posers and idiots who want to look cool. You DO NOT need it for the street, unless you are running a heap of boost like some do.

Anti lag doesn't "inject" fuel. It uses the extra fuel from after you close the throttle valve after you leave the gas and lets some of the fresh air from the intake takes a detour towards the exhaust, before the turbo fan, so that it can both ignite and basically create a mini combustion in the exhaust to spool the turbo faster after you stop accelerating.

You realize the point? Anti lag only works after you use the throttle and then leave it, its the most important to use it on things like manual cars, or turbo cars where its very common to leave the gas every so often. That's why their main user are rally cars. The video you showed me probably has so much air coming through that even if the driver is with the gas pedal on there's some extra air going towards the exhaust, but as for function, since the car is hitting the rev limiter anyways (and hitting the rev limiter and cutting the ignition is probably why the anti lag is working anyways) there's little need for the anti lag.

I propose you look up anti lag as you are mistaken.

Sitting on a rev limiter builds little useful boost

every time i look up anti lag systems i end up with the same answer and idea.

An anti-lag system (ALS) or misfiring system is a system used on turbocharged engines to minimize turbo lag on racing cars. It works by arranging for fuel and air to be in the exhaust duct after the engine, and before the turbocharger. This ignites in the hot ducting and the combustion process that occurs there keeps the turbocharger spinning when the engine is not delivering enough exhaust gas.

That's funny because i find many references to alternative systems which do work off of the line. You really aren't looking very hard. The system you propose is not how any system works either. All common systems are lovingly described in a link above

Apparently what i meant was a mix of both throttle bypass and the secondary air injection, but the latter seems to fit more what i had in mind. Its an extra clean air intake that goes towards the exhaust. It doesn't explain enrichment of the fuel too but i think the article seems to hint that it does that too.

And apparently the video that was shown was using the two step anti turbo lag system. Which is not entirely the same as the others.

But ALAS, back on the first point, i think that we should have working after fire effects for cars before we should aim for anti lag systems.

it does on drag cars, but BOV turbo engines, have the same effect when racing on non drag cars.
as the same the turbo needs to have enough to get the quick start

but isn't that why you already keep the revs high before you start anyways? to have the turbo spool'd up?

Doesn't produce much meaningful boost without load

Guys, anti lag is used to reduce turbo charge lag. If you own a turbo charged car, you will know. i don't :(
