Sorry if this isn't the place to post, but I'm wanting to build a gaming PC this Christmas to retire my current potato, and I'm wondering what kind of FPS I would get with an EVGA GTX 650, 650 Ti, 650 Ti Boost or 660, all in their 2 gig form. I don't really want to spend the extra on the 660, because I'll be replacing this card pretty soon after the build to get a better card. (770, 670, 7950, something in that range.) But I want to have pretty good FPS on BeamNG as soon as I get it put together. Also, I'm pretty partial to Nvidia cards, but if there's a great deal on an AMD, I might look at it. (Translation: Ill probably pay more just to have an Nvidia card.) Ill be running an AMD Phenom X2 965 Black with 8 gigs of DDR3 clocked at 1333 MHz. (I know its kinda overkill, but I already bought it.)

Oh, also I really like the look and reliability of the EVGA cards, but much like AMD, if there's a good deal on another brand, I'll look at it as well.

So does anybody have a similar set up on their PC? If you do, what kind of FPS are you getting and on what setting?

    Thanks. :D

I have the EVGA 650ti BOOST and I get 40 FPS minimum at max settings with postfx off and the card overclocked a bit. (60 in Grid) I think the 650ti boost is cheaper than the 660 if I'm correct but the 660 is a bit better. Don't get the 650 as the 650ti is much better. Use HWCompare to compare cards. (My 650ti boost was around $160 new at best buy)

Im using GPUboss.com to compare them, and aside from their listed prices they're pretty reputable. The 650 Ti Boost is only around $20 cheaper than the 660. The 660 rates better, at a 7.3, compared to the Boost's 6.9, but I've never had a good computer to base that off of. Also do you think the CPU I picked will do well? And how many volts are you pumping in your CPU to hit 5.4 GHZ???

Um, well my dad actually has a 2gb 660 and his is better so if you don't mind spending more money then by all means get the 660. 1.3875 volts btw. (115mhz bus and x47 multiplier :D)

Wow, that's crazy. And I just found a PNY 2 gig 660 for only $3 more than the 650 boost. (With 2 free games, and a 16 gig flash drive too!)I think im gonna go with that. That being said, do you think my CPU will be able to keep up? I know this game is a lot more CPU intensive than other games.

pny isnt really one of the main brands of gpu's, you might try looking for something made by EVGA, or Gigabyte in terms of the 660

Well, like I said before, I just need a cheap GPU to last a couple months until I can get a good card to replace it with, so I think I'll take a chance with PNY. When my sister gets off the potato I'll check the reviews on newegg, but I can't really pass it up with 2 free games and a flash drive. Also, I saw a couple reviews done by pretty reputable sites that gave the card a 9 and a 9.3 I'm terms of quality. Also, it looks pretty kickass, so I think I'll get it. (Yeah I know judging a card by its looks is a terrible idea, but it's just the icing on the $163 cake.)

Well, then go for it! Also, my CPU does seem to be the bottleneck in BeamNG. (Apparently, even though it has an unlocked multiplier, increasing it doesn't add much of a performance boost. So I want to try at getting the bus clock higher. (Would be awesome if I can double the speed of stock))

I know you dislike AMD, but my hd 7770 (~$100) plays max no AA or AF or PostFX at 70 fps, max yes AA and AF no PostFX at 65, and max max at 35 at stock clocks. Overclocking is great on AMD cards because they tend to have conservative clocks.

The CPU is poor though, only a dual core, and a phenom. Should take 2 cars, but it will be the bottleneck.

This card should max the game at 1080p with a small overclock or none at all.

I think bus overclocking is a great choice. APUs see massive gains until about 2133, and I imagine the overclock means it is even more bandwidth starved. If you can not get a stable RAM oc I would go for a core of 5.0 and RAM as high as you can get. (Probably 1600 or 2133 with 1333 RAM)

Honestly, if your just going to replace the GPU quite soon, why bother getting one in the first place. Just run integrated for a few months and save the money of buying a GPU your not going to use for long.

How did you get a 7770 for that cheap? My 7750 was around $130 and my 650ti is much better at drive that that was. I actually bought a second one to crossfire but I absolutely could not get it to work even though everything was set up right and there was nothing wrong with either card. So I returned the second, sold the first, and bought this one with some money to spare.

Back in January my 7770 was $120, I don't know where you found that 7750. :p

    But yeah, it goes
    7730=650<7750<650ti<650tiboost<7770 imo.

No integrated on my mobo, and I could just buy a temporary cheap mobo, but I think what im going to end up doing is, rather than buying a better gpu, ill just buy another 660 and SLI them. :p Mostly cause I like the lifetime warranty on the PNY card. Also integrated is a joke.

No... its a four core... And I'm thinking about getting a 4300 for now and getting an 8350 somewhere down the road. (1-2 years) You think an FX 4300
will last that long? Cpu suggestions would be nice. (Also, id like to keep the CPU ~$100 because as usual, I'm broke, so maybe $120 max.)

I hate how short that card is though. :( Plus it doesn't come with ~$35 of free stuff. (Sure its listed as $145 of free stuff, but that's BS.)

Meh. I'm not a big fan of the fan (Hehe) and small heatsink but it does keep it cool. (Fan never goes over 25 percent on auto. Good thing, because after 40% it sounds awful.)

ok, while integreated obviously isnt the best, its honestly not that bad, i get 45+ fps on gta iv at lowest settings, and around 50+ fps on lowest in beamng (of course, once i get my gtx 760, i shall be able to max both games, with a lot better fps :D) so if you were to get a cheap mobo for temporary gpu until you can get a real one, its not THAT, bad, heck, of course, if you like to use windows experience index, it will probably limit you (also, if the mb your getting doesnt support an igpu, then your cpu probably doesnt have one anyway, so moot point, considering the igpu is usually on the CPU, and not the mb )

Not a bad deal, but doesn't fit the aesthetic I'm going for at all. It's a short card, so nope. Bigass fan, nope. Grey and blue... Waaaaaaaaaay nope. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm just going to end up SLIing the PNY 660s. Anybody have the slightest idea of what 2 660's would do? Proformance comparable to a 770 or so? Maybe a 680? I'm pretty lost with the SLI power figures, as a lot of sites have radically varying opinions.
