Both CrossOver (latest beta) and Parallels run it very well (apparently, Parallels runs it faster).

I don't think porting is necessary unless the game is finished...

Parallels doesnt run it faster. It runs it slower. Parallels is a tool to virtualise windows running within OSX. CrossOver allows is a Win32 API wrapper. In order to parallels to run you have to have an entire copy of windows running atop OSX, this allows for 100% compatibility with windows because you are physically running windows but also adds the additional CPU load of having 2 operating systems and both operating systems tasks going on at once, also you dont get hardware accelerated graphics properly.
Crossover however allows you to *attempt* to run windows software on OSX without actually running windows, when an application tries to call a win32 API function crossover works out what is trying to be called and taps into OSX to do the equivalent functions, the speed impact is near negligible, the compatibility impact is massive although BeamNG does run inside it ok. WINE for linux does the same thing (just with linux instead of OSX), WINE is also available for OSX, crossover was based off of WINE and has actual customer support etc although is generally considered to be slightly behind WINE in terms of compatibility.

But wouldn't the 32bit limit the RAM in crossover? If the mac has more than 4GB RAM.

Same applies to parallels and windows itself

But parallels runs whatever copy of windows you have, so it can be 64 bit? I'm confused.

BeamNG is a 32 bit application, I dont think its even large address aware. Doesnt matter if you run it in 32 or 64 bit windows.
Crossover can run 64 bit software.
Parallels can run 64 bit windows.

How about one buys windows 7 and install it w/ bootcamp? I did that on my 2.4 4gb ram integrated graphics intel MacBook and game runs fine in low settings.

My God yes. All this talk about Crossover, Wine and Parallels. For a game like this Bootcamp is really the way to go. It runs just fine on medium-high settings with a few cars on my new Retina MacBook Pro.

Crossover and wine both have the advantage of not requiring reboots while being free.

While having the huge down side of being a lot slower. If you have a newer Mac with an SSD it takes ~30 seconds to switch to Windows. For less intensive games Crossover and Wine is great, but Bootcamp is the way to go for BeamNG in my opinion.
