The only games I personally know that did this is Sega Rally Revo and Spintires. Because BeamNG's engine relys on anything with physics to work with nodes, I don't think realistically deforming mud will be possible and definitely not for a long time if it will be.
Also from devblog: "Added “shearStrength” groundmodel coefficient. It defines the force (per area) that needs to be applied for the ground to start yielding" So what map maker needs to do is to add that parameter I guess and start experimenting? I'm thinking that maybe that could be use for snow too, like getting stuck into snow, maybe have snow at side of road as a fence applied with forest Brush like in Italy map walls next to road, but have it shaped like snow pile, then rest of terrain have it mud but look like a snow, would that work for more realistic snow maps? Certainly developers listen what community wants and have improved mud now. Update: Actually made thread about snow: https://www.beamng.com/threads/my-idea-of-more-realistic-snow-for-a-map.38731/
There should be the "feel" for the mud. Now there is no feel... It looks not good if the wheel is inside the ground and doesnt have his tracks! (they could be vanished after some yards/meters.
The game HAS ALREADY MUD! even with different moistures! The only thing which is missing is the animation for the wheel tracks!
if there was an update for mud id want the bud to be dynamic like in spinntires where it gets on your car and washes off with watter and makes ruts
As said, the mechanics for mud behaviour are already within the game, so it is just an issue of the feeling. So some additional animations are needed. just a mud trace which can vanish after a view yards/meters and as GALAXYGAMER said some mud on the wheels would be grteat! A small addition fort a HUGE effect! The mud splashing which occurs it is even now much more realisitc than in Spintires!
Idea- Why can't the car Leave tire tracks in the mud using the same kind of wizardry as the skidmarks?
