I've created pontoons for my amphibious car mod, but the pontoons implode as soon as they come into contact with water. I've read the wiki page about buoyancy and don't know what I'm doing wrong.
It's probably because some of the triangles are inverted. Look at the triangle structure with ctrl + T (and ctrl + numpad minus to hide the mesh). Flip the order of the nodes on the purple triangles.
I've fixed the triangles. The reaction to water is different: it floats like it should for a moment, then the pontoons start getting bigger and in a couple of seconds I get this:
Now that I've changed nodeweight to 10, it is now floating nicely on some maps, but on other maps, it still explodes in water. I know that various density of water is to blame, but how to make it work everywhere? Examples: Stable: ECU- sea Cliff Utah Unstable: ECU- stream Bonniethebunnys one hour challenge map Baja track
I've managed to get them stable and floating in ECU sea, but they don't float nor explode in the ECU stream oddly enough. Fixing the coltris helped the stability massively, even without changing the node weight. Edit: The stream in ECU doesn't seem to have buoyancy, just high drag. Edit2: Works on the other 2 maps without issue. Even when diving into the water from the top of Bonniethebunny's map it just floats without exploding Backwards coltris were definitely the issue it seems.
What do you mean by saying "backwards coltris". Inverted? There were no inverted coltris. P.S. You didn't need to get it stable in ECU sea as it was already stable there.
Huh, sorry, I was going off the original, I fixed the inverted coltris on it and it made it stable everywhere. However, yours is unstable, which I don't understand considering you fixed the coltris. Here's the one I fixed, it's seems completely stable even when hitting water at high(ish) speeds on every map I've tested.
