http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxeB5c6fLMk The developer keeps talking about rigs of rods and BeamNG! @ 3.34 3.53 9.21 10.10 He was excited when the videos for BeamNG came out! Thought I might share this with you guys!
They included parts of my video in their video without my permission... (9:20 Original footage from "Rigs of Rods: The ultimate Crash Compilation [10min]") - - - Updated - - - But apart from that this game "looks" pretty promising, destructable terrains, dynamic damge, a lot of options in replay! Great! Please pre-order it guys
Its a good promo to you I guess, if you want you could just tell them to put a link to your channel in the description if you care about it. Good to see this and RoR is being noticed by the big companies
I have the demo for NCG. Trust me, BeamNG wins, hands down. Imagine hitting a wall at 10 mph, then hitting that wall at 100 mph. Beam lets you really feel and see that impact, NCG just uses the same tired generic damage model regardless; scrape your left bumper against a wall and your entire bumper shows as bent, damaged and lights broken.
The game and its developers are going towards a more arcade-ish feel. In such a game, if you completely damage car after one corner, then it kind of ruins the point. They are also making this game based off it's predecessor, FlatOut. (different names due to legal complications). I am a supporter of both NCG and DRIVE, but the two games aren't setting their sights on the same place.
I wish people would stop randomly throwing the word "dynamic" around as a magic wand for clever things. "we made the damage dynamic" what the frack does that mean? It seems so misused as a word it actually annoys me now. There has to be a better word for these sorts of systems.
