So i was reading around on the RoR forums and i saw that in the way that RoR had been coded, that it uses a sort of many simple equations instead of most games which use a small range of very complex equations. This in turn causes problem for not the CPU or GPU, but the overall memory bandwidth. So, RoR uses so many equations that the memory bandwidth is exceeded and it can't keep up. So, "You are better off with a Pentium," which was the title of the thread was pretty much true. It really didn't matter what type or how fast your CPU was, you never got great performance. The average memory bandwidth of a computer it 25GB/s. Now Pricord, in the old museum forums as I like to call them, said that he had experimented with Quad-Core support for RoR, but it made little to no difference because of the memory bandwidth. I was wondering if you guys had chosen a similar type of coding for BeamNG, or you went with the standard "Many Complex Equations" method? Thanks for your replies.

But the entire point is that it doesn't matter. The memory bandwidth is exactly the same.

The current code is optimized for multiple threads (like a processor with 2, 4, 8, or more cores :)) which RoR wasn't. The result is far better performance than was possible in RoR.

Well thank you for your response. I had a feeling, but I just wanted to be sure!

Thank God. I know that RoR is known for how poor its optimization is when it comes to newer computers, so I'm hoping that Beamng (or whatever you decide to call it) is somewhat up to date. I have a 3570k at 4.4 Ghz, GTX 660 Ti, and 8 GB of ram, yet I'm only able to get about 18 fps out of RoR.

    How? a i7 870 @ 3.4 with a HD 7770 and 8 GB of RAM gets me maybe 50 with 2 cars an a mid-quality map.
