Does anyone think that the AMD Raven Ridge APUs will have GPU performance fast enough to run beamng drive? like I will get a laptop with the new APU and a discrete gpu, but can I run the BeamNG game on the iGPU? for extra batterylife
A gtx970 struggles to run the game at 60fp sometimes, an integrated GPU has no chance of running it smoothly. If the APU could run it no one would buy GPU's.
Of course its recommended to play BeamNG on your discrete GPU whenever possible- it's pretty pointless trying to save battery when playing games, which are resource intensive on all components, although valid in a desperate scenario (in fact, BeamNG actively alerts you to when you are using an iGPU, which is demoralising when that's all you have) However, if you want to use your iGPU, it is more than possible. I have a Dell XPS 13 with intel 530 graphics (Middling performance, even relative to other new integrated GPUs) which can run beamNG with 2-3 cars at low settings and standard HD Resolution. A Raven Ridge APU will more than suffice if you're willing to cut back on settings a bit.
like 30fps on low settings (not lowest)? --- Post updated --- admittedly it is pointless, but you can save some significant power thru it tho, like cap the FPS and change the physics from normal to the no inter collisions
So I'm thinking about getting a racing wheel this summer, and I've come down to 2; Which one do you guys prefer? The Logitech G920 or the Thrustmaster TMX? I'd prefer the Thrustmaster for price sake, but if the G920 has features/compatibility that convinces me, I'm fine with that. Only one question, do I need a stand or can I just put the wheel on my desk?
Id take the Thrustmaster over the G920 any day of the week, it is much better. And if you can pay a little bit more, I can recommend the TH8A shifter. It feels really good. As for the mounting, I do recommend a stand, because it really gets in your way when its on the desk, and remounting every time you wanna use it is a pain in the ass.
well last night I stayed out in a tent (one of those pop-up tents) and yeah of course the RH% increased a lot because of breathing and that popup tents really don't have a lot of ventilation. So when the RH% went up my red laptop's replaced digitiser was acting funny, I have just noticed this and suden changes of temperature also causes it to act up, mind you I'm surprised it works at all because it was only £30 on Amazon --- Post updated --- what GPU has it got? is it better than your desktop?
Also as the tent has been in the sun with the tablet in the tent it was really hot, me being me I loaded up BeamNG to stress it, it throttled to 250mhz! with the GPU @ 300mhz --- Post updated --- ahh fuck, my redlaptop screen just broke again, massive crack on the digitizer, but I didn't actually do anything tho so that puzzles me.. (well I touched it and it cracked, like a light touch)
GTX 980m it's pretty quick, I'd put it on par with a 970, maybe a tad slower. I7 makes it much better than my desktop though. i7 6820HK, 16GB's DDR4 2133MHz, GTX 980m, 256GB SSD and a 1TB storage drive. Not gonna lie, as much as I like this laptop I miss my Model M clone already. Need to find a PS/2 to USB converter that actually works.
As an owner of a TMX, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's compatible with ThrustMaster's TH8A shifter and T3PA (both Pro and standard) pedals. It'll do 180° to 900° rotation, it's highly customizable with the stock firmware, the FFB is great (and highly customizable), and it's cheap. The stock pedals aren't anything to write home about, but that's why the T3PA's exist.
That is one beast of a laptop, as good as previous generetion laptops get. How is the cooling - is it quiet or sounds like a broken fridge in mid-summer? Is it comfortable to hold it on lap(temperature and weight wise) -- Different topic -- Do you think gt1030 will make a good solution for laptops? I think it's low power requirements, decent price and nice performance will make it a good dedicated GPU for a midrange laptop that can do a game or two. From benchmarks seems like 1030 is about as powerful as 960m or 750ti
Very quiet even in games. cant really say much about having it on my lap, is pretty heavy and I usually have it on a desk or the side of my armchair.
Absolutely. I'd love to see manufactures pair a 1030 with U-sku i3's or even Pentiums. Paired with 768 (or even 1080) screens would make for great 350-450 dollar laptops. We can only dream though. High end $1,000+ laptops are the norm and people keep buying them.
I would get one of them in addition to my pc for the exclusive games and i dont think that you can make a 4k able pc for 500 i think microsoft sells ubder value
