That is strange, to say at the very least. As everyone said, modding is a major part of GTA. It has always been allowed, so why would they suddenly declare it illegal? Haven't they done a bit of research to understand that adding a car to singleplayer is not the same as modding in money and RPGs and ruining everyone's gameplay in multiplayer?
I really find it a bad idea of them to try and stop modding gta 5 espacially because its the only thing that keeps me playing it i cant use online anyway so why should i bother with it? Also if they would atleast give us a singleplayer expansion or something like that would be nice but thats too not going to happen because take 2 cant get enough money from multiplayer with theyre really badly integrated shark cards. Its a bit like: hey di you want to play the game as originally intended? Then now buy 10 megladon shark cards for 80 bucks each to experience it as it was originally ment!
Recent reviews for GTA 5 are now Overwhelmingly Negative with only 14% positive out of 36642 reviews . Overall reviews are now Mixed with only 68% positive out of 226183 reviews. This feels like a little victory
Still funny how they think that OpenIV is bypassing their "securities" for the online even thou OpenIV simply doesn't allow you to play online with the moded game. Any how it's stupid like others mentioned, it destroys the whole GTA modding community and Rockstars statement doesn't make any sense with the "malicious" mods thing, I'm pretty sure that T2 or Rockstar wants people to focus on the online aspect and buy more shark cards and prevent people from getting theirs hands on the DLCs before they're released. A very stupid move from them and definitely won't be interested in any of TakeTwo's stuff from now on, heck if anything people will start pirating the crap out of it.
Of course, first reading about this, I pretty much angrily screamed in my head. Also really fucked up is how shit the latest update is. They even took out solo session. So now I can do whatever the hell I want! Honestly, I think this is the biggest "fuck you, pay me now", from a game company, I've ever seen. I already signed the petition, and I'm thinking of using my other emails and fake names for the petition now. Cause it's little more than 3/4's at the goal. But... I don't know what it's gonna do, honestly. I'm also thinking of modding the hell out of V, they can't tell that one of the millions of PC users just modded a game file, right? --- Post updated --- However, I can see why they're trying to do it. Because like, Menyoo cheats and stuff, can be used on online, and can harass players, like noclip, invincibility, etc. But I still don't approve of the illegal modding bullshit.
Apparently, petition and bad reviews vendetta worked, Rockstar asked Take 2 to reverse position and there is no uninstall button anymore when open IV checks for update, all informations here : http://gtaforums.com/topic/889348-take-two-vs-modding/page-132
But during that time I realized that Saints Row is better than GTA (Being honest here). I'm picking up SR2 soon!
yeah me too, what a crappy publisher decision this was like "dudes, we only care about your money, when you're modding you're not spending bucks on GTA online. Give up this childish stuff, grow up and spend". They've learned that they'll have way more to lose than to gain.
a petition that's over 75000 signatures, a MASS downvoting of the game on steam that made it go from overwhelmingly positive to mixed overall, and they finally retracted their C&D. yesterday was a good day.
Ha ha yes, a bit of work now for people to reverse their bad reviews, but it could also be a good reminder for any publisher having this kind of idea, that the stats stay like that.
