As sweet as mint condition are, battle scars tell a story. Being able to store the exact state of a vehicle, from end to end, can really bring about some cool ideas for used or beat up cars, spawning them as previously saved (probably as an extra preset), "selling" them to the crowd that favors the used, the cheaper, the tainted, the project-potentials. Or yet, even make the campaign mode more challenging by keeping your damage from previous levels... it might even make you more motivated to keep her alive and running as long as possible. I can't be the only one that finds it rad when damage adds to the look and story, especially when it still runs and drives.
Thinking a bit deeper, this can make long-term wear a thing ( engine sludge / intake and exhaust dirt / carbon buildup of each part such as the IACV and cat, efficiency/life of air filter etc) along with its corresponding symptoms (performance loss, rough/high idling, stalling, bogging down from a clogged cat, knocking etc). Since it's likely to be an extremely gradual value (unless your intake is balls deep in dirt/sand), I don't see how it would be process-heavy for the most part. We can also further simulate air pollutants/particulates and the effect they have on our cars intake/exhaust system. The air of city levels would have values of higher pollutants, making you change your air filter sooner. An engine with a bad PCV/ very old oil will create sludge at a higher rate.
I was about to make a thread similar to this. Just in the sense of how being able to spawn cars with already made dents and other broken things like that but you took that idea even further. Nice idea.
And even when more campaigns are released and the online scoring system for beamng goes online, there could be some sort of "Achievement" which you got if you did the entire campaign with one vehicle. This is probably thinking really far into the future, but adding the damage saving system now would make it easier to for future progress in BeamNG's storyline and campaigns.
Yes, this is something that they need to add. it may be cool to have brand new vehicles, but being able to save a vehicle with its current damaged state/wear would bring out even more ways to have fun. per say you just want to have fun and make yourself a "personal" car that you always drive. along with when you said, "Battle Scars" it would be nice if they added the more detail of scratches in paint, to furthermore enhance detail and realism. This was a really good idea to bring up, and I'm completely with you for this idea.
omg this feature is already in game. I see your new but your already annoying me. Also this was a thread bump of a dead thread that is almost a year old. Anyways there is a feature in game that can save damage from level to level even if you restart the game. EDIT: not going to fuel the fire.
Well then all mighty lord, tell me how you do it instead of complaining like a little child. The forums are made to help others that are new, like me. Not to complain on how new players are oh so annoying to such perfect people like you.
Please cut the fights.. From the Radial menu (that circle thing that appears when you press ESC), you should find buttons to 'Save/Load'.
That's pretty neat. It will make things like races and derbies have the ability to run qualifying heats before the main event with some realism!
